So, I haven't played sins for a while now and wanted to play this mod, since it is my favorite.  However, SOA requires Diplomacy 1.19F.  I have no choice but to get 1.21 from impulse.  Am I out of luck until the next version of SOA comes out, or is there something I can do to make it work?

The mod actually works with 1.21, though it has been known to minidump sometime, but I don't think that is because of compatibility, the mod team can confirm it.

I think I might have 1.21 (I just installed fairly recently) and it works just fine

Great.  When I tried to run it, I got a minidump within the first 15 seconds, so I figured that version number was the issue.  I'll give it another go.

 

Edit: Well, it has been running fine for a while now.  Must have either been random or the map.  Thanks.

yes it is so PRE 2004 to have dialup(I could not get broadband until 2004 in my susurb which is within 3km of a telephone exchange, but the phone monopoly did not want to upgrade the RIMs(sub exchanges)) ,

but another (worse) thought is the SIZE of the upload.

how many gigabytes IS being uploaded?

Maybe it's just a marketing thing. Make us chomp at the bit

Maybe they'll release a crappy version called New SOA2, then release the good one as SOA2 Classic

I have been a lurker here for years and have enjoyed the mod.  With this latest release though the game does not fill up all of my computer monitors screen, even if I change the resolution.  I have never had this problem before.  Anyone else?

 

Also was any additional Borg tech localizations added from the previous release?  I still get a lot of TBD stuff.

Havent checked it out myself yet, but did u remove the old version of the mod? or did u install inside the old version? Best results run with a clean install of sins diplomacy 1.21. No other mods enabled.

Odd you should get a res error like that since the mod doesnt mess around with the graphics settings. DLing now to check it out

Using window mode?  I have no idea why it's buggered, but it is and it's not SOA2.  You can manually edit your diplomacy.user.setting file to use a different resolution.

 

Borg research should be unchanged from the previous version.

I fool around with it some more but its the only mod in the 1.21 mod folder and I have not selected window mode.  Aww I was hoping the Borg got those missing ones filled in.

Well, this can't possible be the SOA2 mod, so I have no idea what is wrong.  No windows have been altered since the last version, the biggest thing done to the UI was a couple mismatched icons that were properly tagged.

 

Let me know what resolution you're trying to run it in, and what your monitor's native resolution is, and I'll see if I can come up with anything.

Got it fixed, and no it was not your mod thank goodness.  My screen resolution for some reason went back to default with the new 1.21 patch, but its all good now.  Time to Game On!

Hello

Have not been able to play very long before i encounter crashes. The last error i recieve says:

"Entity Ref not found: BuffDecloakMineForMovement" and then i get a mini dump.

(used "Sins of a Solar Empire Diplomacy Dev.exe" to find the problem)


any ideas?

Same here, I sent my Miranda to explore other system and I zoomed in and moved the camera around to admire it then suddenly it mini dumped. This was literally 3 mins into the game.

I got a m/d very early in my first run thru...lowered my graphic settings from ships on highest to high, and structures from med to low, and planets from high to med and so far into second test game ok.........once I get it running steady(fingers crossed) I can give my impressions:

When i get home ill give it a quick look through to see if any graphical problems (other than the already known stuff). If u crashing at high settings it means it may be hitting the 2 gig mark. There could be some stuff in the mod that isnt used anymore that needs removing. wont know till i see it.

i only go up to about 986mb of ram usage, so not sure if its that, ill await your investigation

On second run thru with the lower settings still got a m/d but much further in game.
