The "slowness' of Entrenchment is due to Entrenchment itself, and the IC devs unintentionally adding in more than the game can handle. I started working on TSOP just before the release of Diplomacy to fix this, and IC incorporated TSOP into the 1.2 - 1.3 series of patches for Diplomacy. However Entrenchment, and Original Sins were never updated. They both still have the same 2 gig problem. You are correct TSOP is NOT incorporated into the Entrenchment version of SoA 2. Not a choice. Just lack of free time to do it.
It was our intention from the beginning to stop all work on previous versions of the mod when a new expansion was released, because we can not keep up with 3 or 4 (when rebellion is released) different versions of the same mod. We do not have the free time, or the manpower to do that. The Original Sins version of SoA 2 hasnt been touched in a very long time, and will require a total rebuild to bring it up to speed with the Diplomacy version. It took us a very long time to port the mod over to Diplomacy. The next release SoA 2 will be for Diplomacy ONLY. As it was intended. However once we release the next version we will look into making the mod "backward compatible".
You "should" be able to run SoA 2 Entrenchment on top of TSOP. I have done it in the past and had no major issues. I didnt incorporate TSOP into the entrenchment version, because i was on hiatus, and technically i am supposed to be "retired" from modding. Every time i try to get out.... i keep getting pulled back in.. Seriously, I have been lucky the last few weeks, and blessed with some free time to work on the project.
Jaytlrpcs is out of state working so he isnt with us at the moment. So i kinda became the defacto project lead again. I will do what i can in what little free time i got. When Jay comes back i can go back into retirement
Oh yes, We have a TODO list, and it is HUGE. Mainly focusing on fixing the many errors that accumulated over time, and making sure the new meshes, ability's, and research we add WORK. Most everything we do is "deliberate" unless we have to work around it due to the nature of Sins.
There are some things you can do to help Entrenchment (and Original Sins) run better without TSOP. I dont know why IC didnt incorporate this into Entrenchment, and Original Sins.
You will be modifying Core Game Files! MAKE BACKUPS of Entrenchment (and Original Sins) BEFORE YOU DO THIS!! just in case you screw it up.
Make Sure Diplomacy is updated at version 1.32!
1) Copy the Pipeline Effect folder from Diplomacy, and paste it into your Entrenchment folder. Overwriting what is there. This will incorporate the Diplomacy 1.2+ graphic fixes into Entrenchment (You can do the same for Original Sins. It works too).
2) Copy the Particle folder from Diplomacy, and paste it into Entrenchment. Overwriting what is there. Same as above it will incorporate the Diplomacy 1.2+ Particle fixes into Entrenchment. (It "should" work for Original Sins too, However i would replace the particle files on a one for one basis to make sure no Entrenchment, or Diplomacy specific particles get copied).
3) Copy the Mesh folder from Diplomacy, and past it into Entrenchment. Overwriting what is there. This will incorporate the Dip 1.2+ mesh fixes into Entrenchment. (It "should" work for Original Sins too, but i would replace the meshes on a one for one basis. So you dont copy Entrenchment, and Diplomacy specific stuff into Original Sins.)
What i just posted above has the TSOP stuff that IC incorporated into Diplomacy with the latest patches. Plus IC's own fixes that never made it into Entrenchment, or Original Sins. All of that "should" work in Entrenchment, and Original Sins. I know for a fact the Pipeline Effect fix's work in all 3 versions, and the Mesh fixes work. The Particle fix's should work too since the file format has never changed.
Remember to Make Backups before you do this! Otherwise you will have to re-install the game through impulse.
