The Delta Flyer? An omni-purpose nigh invulnerable craft built from "scrap" in the hangar of a light cruiser lost in space. It would be great cause it can take on the Borg Collective all by itself (can you feel the sarcasm here). Seriously, I do like the design. The problem is where to put it, and what purpose would it serve? Its too big to be a fighter, and we already have the Danube as a Starbase, and Hangar defense only heavy fighter. I may consider switching, but the SoA2 Team needs to look into it some more. We all must be in agreement before we switch a ship slot like this.
I was gonna build models for Excalibur, I built the SoA 2 Regula Station, and Starbase 375 models for Excalibur, but the models were rejected as being too low poly. My free time for modeling is very limited, and they need models done like yesterday. My style, and methods of modeling dont fit in very well with Excalibur's modeling style ether. They want high poly, extremely detailed stuff. Where i think like an RTS modeler. I believe "less is more". Not to the point of "flying box's" like the older trek games. I believe a true modeler makes a model that "looks" high poly, but uses as few triangles as humanly possible. Sure Excalibur stuff looks great. Some of the models they did i consider masterpieces, and great render material, but its not gonna do us much good if the best system available only runs Excalibur at 2 FPS, because of all the detailed 4096 resolution textures, and high poly models in it. I did voice my concern about that to the Excalibur team. It fell on deaf ears. 10,000 tri's is considered a low poly lod model in EX. I probably can use Excalibur models as a reference to make a lower poly version that will work in Sins. I am sure the Excalibur team wont mind as long as i credit them. I just dont have any access to those models right now.
The whole point of SoA, and SoA 2 IS gigantic space battles. I agree one "steamroll" ship will mess all of that up.
