Just how am I supposed to get better?

I've noticed an incredible amount of rudeness when it comes to new players. Every time I try to connect to a game, after a few moments in the lobby the host will make some comment like "noob, lol" or "no noobs, sorry" and then kick me.

How is a new player supposed to improve without anyone to play against? Is the community and fanbase of this game really that dense and mean-spirited?

I understand concepts like micromanaging, build order (or, in this case, skill order) and such. But I've got to have some field experience in order to figure out what works and what doesn't, what is effective and what is not. However, getting the field experience seems impossible, as I keep getting kicked from every server I try to join.

Any thoughts on this, or should I just go back to playing Dawn of War II and COH instead?

plenor is better to get before vlehmish because you get more mana in your pool then with vlehmish.

also before you start ranting about it ill tell you this the battle between which is better will never end because the pros and cons for both equal out in both directions there is no right or wrong it depends on your preferance

Max, for you, plenor is better, because you're constantly chasing people down and spamming them with abilities, which is great, if you're getting kills and not dying. But, if you actually stay in a lane and level up, which is generally your safest bet, then vlemish is better to get first because it allows you to stay in and hold your ground. If I have vlemish and you have plenor, you can probably push me out of a lane for a minute and thirty seconds, but then you're out of mana and I have half a bar so it's back to base for you, which means I end up leveling more and tearing down your tower. I think this is why you end up 3 levels behind every game you aren't on mana side

lol but you forget that when im 3 lvls behind so is some one else usually so it no big deal plus i lvl up pretty quick later so it all evens out i still think it depends on your preference there is no correct choice also when ever i get vlehmish it doesnt regen fast enough so i still end up having to go back to the crystal

there is a thing called "don't spam your abilities mindlessly." It's pretty important. But it fails to be as important as the thing called "don't waste consumables on pointless shit every single time they're off cd."

Yeah, so I played this game like a year ago at a LAN party. I'm probably at the upper end of noob. I finally installed it again and tried to play online... took me about five tries to find a match I wasn't insta-booted from (all labeled noob v noob). I realize I had a 0-0 record, but give a guy a chance.

I do have friends to play with so getting games won't be a problem, but it was a very unfriendly beginning to things.

Yeah - it's really unfortunate that you'd be kicked from a noob game (especially if you are trying to join those games just to get some games and get your stats up). I think the solution to avoid that rubbish is to host your own noob games in the meantime. I've also noticed a few folks hosting noob training games where I believe they let you get a win and help you get a better grasp on tactics. Be sure to jump in on those if you get a chance. Hope your experiences in the future are a bit better.
