Since most games are played at default settings it would be nice to indicate in game name when you create a game with starting level 20, starting gold 25k, high gold etc. I almost never check game settings when i join cause its usually safe to assume that default is set.
Fankly want to get people's opinion since a game a had recently reminded me of this. Also heads up if you play games with RobertMunch check the settings:).
So I joined his game, had a teammate on my team that is under 20% (19 and 96) and didnt know what concede....(turned out to be a nice guy tho), but figured why not so we played a 2v2. Took me a bit to realize once we started that we have 25k in our pocket and im at level 20, than to figure out what to buy and pick since i didnt expect this. By the time i was out of the base ofc robertmulch was at the artifact flag already and needless to say we lost.. having a beginner teammate was ok by me in a normal game since i thought i might help him abit by explaining things, but starting at 20 with 25k he/she is at a bigger disadvantage imo
So i asked RobertMunch why he didnt name games and all he said was that he never does and ppl should check settings and that we can concede (Wtf? why would you waste your and other ppls time). My point is its only a few keystrokes. The game name was XvX... theres plenty of room. to me not putting game settings in the name like this only make sense for two reasons:
1. get the game going faster if ppl wont join games with different settings. but even than ppl conceding => waste of time plus tricking people into playing is a waste
2. its a cheap way to get an early advantage. getting to arti flag first is huge in $25k games, so while everyone else goes wtf. you're all geared up and should win the game anyway. I think this is why he does it tho it may not have been true. and i think its a cheap way to play so wanted to give ppl heads up! worse one i've seen, and it wasnt robertmunch, was high gold combined with looong flag capture time, ofc lock on arti. high gold is fun as hell for me but personally i think ppl need to know this pregame and basing your game simply on locking artifact shop is a cheesy way to get early advantage.
I actually prefer +2 speed and have fun with different settings, but when i know this before game starts and pick demigod/plan accordingly. Robertmunch told me he just doesnt feel like naming games, to me it sounds like reason 2 applies. He says you can concede i say why would you waste your time with people conceding. Says you can check settings but why cant you just put it in the game name and it will save you time and other people time. '
I'm not saying im better than him but given the time it took him to get to artifact, his item and favor choices, i think i woulda destroyed him early game in that game had i known what i was getting into.
Anywho i know its not required if yall make games with fun settings (gold, xp etc), but please indicate so in the game name, its a nice thing to do and saves you and players who join your games time.
Using that to gain an advantage is not far from desyncing/stat exploiting imho. To me this is on par with quitting when citadel is going down and explaining it simply by saying that you quit only cause you were loosing and didnt want to wait (dumbest excuse ever between, cant wait for 5 more secs after a 40 min game?). and i just cant come up with a good reason not to name such games but to get an advantage
