I personally think it does. Its all a matter of how much ram is used by you OS and other programs and how much your video game eats up when its active.  I can say that a buddy of mine had 4 gigs in a windows vista system and 1 stick went bad (leaving him with 2 gigs).  He said his gaming performance took a hit.  Anyway, with ram being pretty cheap, hopefully 4 gigs isn't too taxing on the wallet, but that's what I'd recommend anyway.  And, if you just decide to get 1 stick of ram, makes sure its 1 stick at 2 gigs.  You can always upgrade if you want

If you have a mobo and OS that supports it, if you don't...its one of the most expensive.

For $300 over here in the UK  you'd probably be able to get away with something like an AMD 940, ddr2 Mobo and 3gb of Ram.

The 940 has a habit of being a beastly overclocker making it the best bang for buck processor around at the moment.

RAM here in Oz (old stock prices, that is) has near tripled in price over the last 6 months.... so-say to recover the costs of getting new stock, which is at increased prices over the old anyhow.
