Glad to see a new DG player, welcome! My advice would be to check out replays on http://www.gamereplays.org/demigod to see a general gist of the differences between single and multiplayer

Just a side note : I know how to use all the DG's   I also come from simliar games like DoTA and League of Legends ( LoL ) So the game mechanics are nothing new to me, I don't have a game winning / breaking DG either because I decided to try to be well rounded.

Habuza I'm one of the somewhat rare players who don't mind playing with beginners on my team as long as they're someone like yourself who has actually mastered the single player game before going online.  Heres some tips:

-Its going to be totally different with experienced players so try joining noob games or host your own for a while and build up a decent record.

-Be humble and take any suggestions your teamates give you if you manage to get into a somewhat experienced game.  Its really annoying for me to say I'm fine with playing with a newbie cause he's played the single player and used to play DotA blah blah, then when I'm trying to help him get the right items, he tells me its not part of his build?  If you've played a total of 10 games and only won 2 of them, then your build is whatever your allies tell you its going to be.

-Don't gimp yourself with your demigod selection.  If I see an inexperienced player join my team I might think to myself "Eh screw it... its just a game and we all had to learn sometime... maybe I can give him a few pointers."  Then he'll choose Regulus and I'll tell the host to boot him.  Choose Unclean Beast when you're learning, he's obscenely overpowered and simple to play.  If you get bored with him or someone else picked him, start using Erebus... if you're on a team where two people already have these guys selected then Sedna or Oak are acceptable.  When playing a general always always alway buy monks as your first item or your teamates might quit right away.

Don't you worry about abusing powerful demigods, worry more about trying to keep your win percentage above 7% so people will hopefully be more inclined to have you on their team. 

-Don't rage quit... I don't like playing with a beginner, have him lose the game by dying too many times, then as I'm about ready to tell him its ok but he should do this and this different... he just quits without saying anything leaving his teamates thinking "Really glad we wasted 20 minutes playing with someone who ain't got any interest in figuring out what he did wrong." It shows up on your player info how many games you've completed so be aware that folks around here don't take kindly to rage quitters.
