Lupine - when you are a new player to DG, its best to host your own games and call them new player only or noobs only plz. The reason people seem really annoyed or kick when you join a game is that 1 inexperienced player will generally guarantee a loss for that team. So, the option is either wait for a more experienced player to come along and take the new players place or play a game with the new guy on your team, only to lose.
Anyway, if you spend some time hosting new player games, you'll get more experience and eventually not get kicked from games. If you want to learn at a faster pace, you might want to do a forum search for OMG or Oh My Gentlemen and you can get on ventrilo and play with a team while you learn.
