Well if these are always trying to be installed on your machine then there is something on your machine causing that.  Go into tools in IE9 and disable verything you don't use.  Also check your active X files the culprit(s) might also be there.

Uninstalling Ask can sometimes be easier said than done... and I wouldn't exactly say it is harmless.  It may not be malware in the truest sense, but I had an instance once where I had no opt out and it installed with another app acquired from C-Net, and it took over my browser home page and search functions.  And what an elaborate, pain in the arse process it was to get rid of the mongrel

While I could go to add remove programs and get rid of it, every time I rebooted or restarted my browser it was back again.  To successfully get rid of it I had to also remove all Ask related entries from the registry; C:/ProgramData; AppData in my personal folder; Program Files and Common Files.   Even then I was still being redirected to the Ask homepage every time I started my browser, so the activeX add-on needs to be uninstalled/disabled and the browser cache needs to be emptied as well.

Elana...  I haven't used WinPatrol in a long while now, but as I recall there should be a 'remember this decision' box to tick when you make your yes/no selection.  If it still has that, tick the box and the nags should stop.  Then you should probably follow the above steps to remove the process that's prompting the Ask install.

isnt bing a standart IE9 addon ? at least its in the german version included...its the little page translator thing that does translate the whole page for you with one click...
