Bonus Pack Scenerios

In SimCity you can play "scenerios" where you must reach a certain goal (like stopping the Great Chicago Fire and rebuilding the city in 20 years). Maybe the Bonus Pak could include something like this.

Example: Small map, common planets, Alterians (neutral, smart), Yor (neutral, dumb). You are an evil warlike race. A Galactic Crusade (minor race AI, but able to expand outside their sector) is in the works that is against evil civs. They have already captured key fringe worlds. Reconquer these worlds, destroy the Crusaders' Flagships, and capture their home planets. (All key ships/planets have special ID markers)

Please post any additional suggestions you have here.

Forgot these in the original post.

1. You have to complete the goals on 350 turns (playtesting could balance the #).

2. You can semi-customize your race (add points to Research, etc), but must remain with the War Party.

3. The Alterians and the Yor are the only two major races.

4. You can trade with the other races, but it is very difficult to get an alliance with them.

5. Start off with midlevel techs. Can't research Terror Star (would make the game too easy).

6. (Any other logical restrictions/freedoms).

Maybe in the expansion pack (summer) but given that the BonusPak is going to be available in about 2 weeks there's not enough time for that kind of thing.

Providing the community with tools to create their own scenarios would lead to a lot more scenarios.

Why not just make up your own scenarios, set up the game the way you want to and then play the way you planned? Same effect, no need to add anything.

I think a true scenario in this context would include some scripted events or at least pre-set configs and a customised set of victory parameters.

perhaps if trigger events, and user defined victory conditions come in the summer (I believe the config parameters will be editable anyway) then these scripted scenarios could become a reality?

To represent the other side of the fence, so to speak, I'd like to say I hate scripted scenarios in games, and was pleasantly surprised they omitted them in SimCity 4. I understand, of course, that many gamers enjoy that added challenge, but, for me, the joy in these kind of single player, open-ended strategy games is the fact I *don't* have to play a scripted mission. :not sure:

That said, I can't wait for GalCiv to be released, this looks like a real treasure for the 4X community.

Boy, I'm really messing this thread up. My second post was explained that my "not sure" comment in my original post was from me trying to insert a "not sure" smiley face manually. That didn't work out. My second post is blank for some reason. So, moderator, feel free to delete my post and slap me around. Sorry everyone!
