Greetings!

We're so happy to see you!

Welcome to the Sins of a Solar Empire forum.  For fans from the previous incarnation of the forums, we apologize for the inconvenience of having to create a new account.  For users who have been on any other Stardock.net site (or JoeUser.com, WinCustomize.com, VistaBlogging.com, GalCiv2.com, etc.) your UserID and PW will work here.

For fans of Galactic Civilizations who are seeing this for the first time, you're in for a real treat.  Both Stardock and Ironclad team members will be hanging out here to help answer questions, listen to your suggestions, and generally just have a good time hanging out.

Have fun!

Brad... Should the ranks in the Stardock forums carry over between subforums (i.e. TG.net, galciv2.com, and here?)

Nope, you gotta earn your way up on each site the hard way

What exactly do you mean by ranks?

Then bring on the bugs to be squashed.

i'd rather earn my ranks playing sins!

i tend to let my stratigic talents do the talking, hehh... i believe in taking my frustrations on the battle field and watching the other guy's stuff blowing up. for some reason it's better than tylenol.

On Stardock's forums (as with most), posters can gain ranks over time. The difference is that here, the ranks are not based on your postcount, but the value of your contributions to the forum and community. Over on the GalCiv2 forum, the ranks are as follows (it may be different here, or we may not use ranks-not sure what the plan is there just yet).

Exiles and Visitors are people who have been banned, the former permanently and the latter temporarily.

Citizens are normal users; this is the rank you start out at.

Veterans have earned a bit of recognition through their contributions, but don't generally get anything special other than the rank itself.

Diplomats and Ambassadors are valued and trusted members of the community who may get special access to private forums or beta test builds that are not available to the general public (at least, such is the case with GC2). FYI, those who were ranked Diplomat and above before GC2's release got their names in the GC2 credits, and most of their screen names were featured as ships in the campaign.

Governors and Senators are forum moderators, and may be volunteers or Stardock (and now Ironclad) employees.

Avatar is the final rank and is reserved only for SD employees, primarily the game devs and others directly involved with the forums in question.

Interesting that the "rank" system here is so very heirarchial. I've never been on a forum with so many different ranks, its pretty interesting to see so many...

Glad to see that the forums are up and running along smoothly.

where is blair and them... i would really like to see their faces around again

Rank does not matter much to me, but I do like to help people understand how to play the game better. When people like a game and there are not major bugs to frustrate users, then one can play the game for a long period of time.
