I shall lurk no more...

Greetings all,

I will keep this short and sweet... I just wanted to step from the shadows and say hello to everyone. I have followed the progress of this game for several months now, and I am very excited that the release date is close at hand. I have a strong feeling that GalCiv will be an instant classic with the turn based strategy community. I have my fingers crossed for good reviews! I'll stop back in and give you impressions on release day.

See you in the Metaverse! :D

One of my biggest anticipations with the game is not simply playing it but tooling about with the customization aspects - adding events, techs, etc. etc.

As a big fan of strategic board games with customizable elements, this has a lot of appeal to me.

Yes Ion Stream, I was a lurker too.

I didn't want to commit to intense beta testing and feedback, but I do want to play this game.

This looks like the space game I've wanted since I've had a PC.

Anyone out there taking a day off from work when they get it?

Okay, I'm de-lurking too! Don't have too much to say except that I'm eagerly anticipating this game after being extremely disappointed with both Freelancer and MOO3 (in fact, I didn't even know GalCiv was being developed for the PC but for the flyer I got in my MOO3 box) and I expect to spend many a sleepless night playing this game ... and Zelda! :d

Yeah I'm a lurker. I've been reading these forums for at least a month if not more. I was going to wait until GalCiv came out and debate whether to buy it, or Moo3. I guess at this point I will pick up Moo3 when it hits the bargain bin.

Back to the shadow.....

Well how about that! :D I say that I like de-lurkers and what-a-ya-know? *Three*, mind you, three de-lurk! ;)

Welcome to all three of you. I like to see delurkers. I used to give away prizes to delurkers in the SSG forum. Hmmmmm......

When someone says they are "de-lurkuring", err, de-lurking, why does that remind me of being beemed down and materializing?

Sheeesh -- I had no idea this would turn into a Lurkers Anonymous meeting. LOL

"Hi, my name is (insert name), and I am a... lurker."

Glad to see I wasn't alone. It's ok to come out everyone -- the coast is clear! :CONGRAT:

Yep. De-lurked.

I am jaded gamer who has seen all the hype and all the tricks. GalCiv, however, seems to be approaching this game in the manner I had *always* hoped developers would.

You have my strongest support, and I can't wait to see what looks to be an awesome game that will only get better in the coming months as a result of such careful use of fan-based feedback.

...I'm nearly in tears, but I cry on the inside... LOL

I've been trying to de-lurk for weeks but my ID was jammed and nothing else seemed to work. Then, miraculously, I received confirmation that my lurk had dropped and I was prepared to attack the boards. ;)

Geeeeeeezz. That makes about 8 de-lurkererers. And all at once too. :D

The Unknown Knows said, "Sheeesh -- I had no idea this would turn into a Lurkers Anonymous meeting. "

LOL

OK, example from meeting:

"Err, I am lurker. I've had this problem for 6 months now, and I need help. Oh, how I need help! I can't help it. My lurker addiction controls me. I even feel anxiety -- oooommmvvvv -- cause I can't control it. Oh please help me. How do I delurk? oooommmvvvv. "
:D

"Captain, noobs de-lurking off the starboard bow!" ;p

This game sounds like it's gonna be a winner.

GREETINGS!
You have pleased us; this game will indeed be a great thing.
To repay you, we will not destroy you utterly.
:CONGRAT:

Seriously, though, great stuff. I REALLY like the bonuspak idea....it will, however, make us extremely vulnerable to the n00b plague as the pirates come, whining about their self-inflicted plight.
n00bs=bad
newbies=good

Our Draconian fleet, however, is more than capable of hostile termination. Our purifying flame will be more than a match for their dirty, soot-emitting fire. (by that, I mean I will unleash my many flamethrowers if needed)

WARNING!
Lurking device damaged
.....unable to Re-Lurk

Just great, I knew I shouldn't have "wasted" my money on Freelancer (as being 15 does tend to limit your available sources of income).
I can't even get anyone to give me money.
I don't want to wait until May!!!!!
.....
Now we are angered.
.....Powering-up all flame-based weapons
.....Preparing to fire

...Now I just need some whiny pirates to fire on.

welcome all!

I hope you will enjoy the game as much as I have. I must now give my standard warning...

caution! the surgeon general has determined that playing galciv can be totally addictive. 1 game is all it takes, so when the drengin offers you anything...RUN! :)

The games seems to be evolving as we speak. I'm one of the gamma testers and to give you an example of how hard the Stardock people work. Yesterday i think i uploaded 3 new versions of the bonuspak. They have responded so fast i've haven't hardly had any time to start a new game, let alone finish one. When you get the game and start playing please ask any question you want, a lot of very nice people on this forum will try to help you. You might want to start small before you go to the gigantic galaxy, it does take time to finish that one, and the tiny and small one's you can finish in a sitting.

got to get bak to the current game, i've been in a war with the torians for over 10 years. it's just them and i and the minor races left. (by the way you nead to learn how to exploit the minor races they have helped my economy in critical moments)

ses you all around the forum

I guess i'll add to the de-lurkers out there. I've been lurking for a few month and like the way this game has developed so far.

btw:Is MOO3 any good? ;p

It will be, according to Gamespot it hit #1 in PC game sales last week.
I would think it would be profitable for them to rework the AI, interface, etc.
But I would wait until a couple patches came out if I were you. ;)
