Fried drive.

Wish me luck!

Well, I managed to fry my drive on Xmas.

I am hoping that it is just the PCB board that is gone, not my data too. I have a lot backed up, but some things that I have done in the past few weeks would be gone!
My new PCB board should be here in a few days. Wish me luck!

Thanks a lot guys (and gals). The board isn't here yet. I'm sure your thoughts are helping out a lot. Thanks again!

Ive heard that putting a hard drive in the freezer can sometimes help recover lost data...could'na tell ya why or how, but might be worth a google lookup.

The actual PCB was fried, freezing it wont suddenly give power.

The mechanics inside are fine.

I am happy with my new 250GB SATA drive, and I didn't lose very much data at all, so the old drive can RIP.

As strange as that sounds it could be true. When I was little and one of my 45's skipped I threw it in the ashes in the fireplace. Then I took it out and wiped it down, and viola, No more skip. Worked every time. I guess the ashes were "filling" in the scratches or something. Go figure! I wouldn't want to do that and then play them on the more sophisticated needles of today...well you know what I mean.
