Yesterday, while playing on a huge map, latest patch:

I had made only "good" choices, changed the UI, got an event that I considered (at the time) to be far too costly to accept the good result, switched back to neutral. Anyway, when I climbed back to "good" the "good techs" were no longer researchable (Hyper Warp was on the list before I became neutral, didn't reappear when I got back).

Unsure this is mentioned already, so here it goes, I have v1.02.41 running, when I "Purchase" something (eg. Fusion Power Plant), it tells me it will be ready next month. When you replace this item with something else (eg. Shipyard) - the item I purchased seems "gone" and the new item takes XX weeks to build again. My question ofcourse, did I loose the first item - even when I spend money on it ?

Same problem - if it is one - when launching a transport, you can load people on it again and again - is this endless ? Or has a transport a max. load ?

e-mail SE logs to [email protected].

I'd be interested in seeing that save game with the crash on the abilities screen. Same e-mail.

1.02.041

Typo:

In planetary detail screen:

"Colonized in [Date X], [World Y] has become one of the nicer places to reside in the [Player Empire Name]. An abundance of mineral-rich land, clean air, and fresh water_"

Note the quoted "_" character. Needs to be replaced with proper punctuation.

After using the next turn button, sometimes a diplomatic dialog will pop-up between my civ and another race. This dialog has no civ assets on either side of the screen, so it prevents me from determining whether I want to trade with the other civ. Who wants a pig-in-a-poke?

Here's a bug another member in the forum pointed out. I just want to make sure it receives all due attention from Frogboy and the other devs.

"I chose +50% military ability for 6 points. Then I start a game, and look for the shields in the planet view => they are all the same! Using the economic sliders 1/3 each yields as many military and social prod. units - shouldn't it be +50% in the military shields? In the planet view it reads 3 + 0, no bonus shields! Putting the economic sliders to 100% mil. yields total as many mil. shields as did previously mil, soc and rec combined. Where's my bonus?

I repeat the experiment by choosing +50% social production, and it didn't seem to have any effect on anything either."

"This is a known bug. The Social and Military production bonus picks don't work."

I want to second Choo Waka's bug report. The autopilot doesn't work right. Whatever ship you last gave orders to won't autopilot the next turn. And if it doesn't move under autopilot, it looks like *none* of your ships move that turn. Then, on the next turn, all the ships will move okay. I think they keep alternating turns, effectively halving the movement rate.

To get around this, I have to manually move one ship every turn. It's really quite irritating.

Version 1.02, updated today on Win2000

Invaded a planet and hardly made it. Around 300m pop on the battle screen. On the Planet Screen I suddenly have -133m pop. Next turn the negative number has been replaced by 100000 - no indication whether m(illion) or b(illion). Morale 1. After a few turns I realize that the new pop is true - I just got 100b pop.

This has been consistent through all versions, although I typically forget about it before posting.

After I set a survey ship or a ranger to auto-survey, I can't tell them to do anything else. Or rather, I can, but they go back to autosurvey if there are any anomalies on the map. This can be frustrating if I'm trying to get the USS Hero out of Arcean space because the Arceans declared war on me, and the Hero ends up getting destroyed because it, you know, had to go back for a look at that wormhole.

I do check to make sure I've deactivated auto-survey, but it doesn't seem to help. Survey ships will also leave orbit to survey new anomalies.

I'm going to assumet this is a bug.

Built a full upgraded Terror Star traveling alone that moved 1 space per turn through my sectors and my future enemy. No issue there.

After destroying a few planets and having those sectors convert over to my influence, my TS was able to move about about 8 spaces to almost the new edge of my influence sphere. Once it hit Torian space again, movement was back to 1 and stayed there.

While my TS was crossing the galaxy, the other ships didn't seem to have upgraded range. I do believe the ultradrive random event may have been active.

I've been stuck at a 95% plus cultural victory for about 10 years now!! WHat gives!!
Doc

Possible Answer: You are still 5% short of a cultural victory. Believe you need to convert 7/8 of all sectors. Once you reach 100%, you must maintain that percentage while avoiding a war for the next 12 months.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I really don't have the time to read this entire thread to find out. Could someone please look into the problems discribed in this http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=37580&MaxReplies= and this http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=25704&MaxReplies=. Thanks.

Here's a few I noticed:

1. One time I was launching a colony ship from the planet screen and lowered the number of people on it. When I launched it the screen went to the galaxy view but there was no ship. Double-click on the star and the planet's population has been reduced by the amount I picked but the colony ship is still orbiting. Repeated this two more times. Finally, just left the number of people on the default of half the planet population, and when I launched it worked normally.

2. When I would put a planet on the "Republic" governor, it would build trade goods that were unavailable anymore. For instance, it would start building Diplomatic Translators after I'd already built them.

3. Music during diplomacy and the cutscenes is choppy. I have a 1.2 Ghz Athlon, 256 MB RAM, SB Live! X-Gamer, most recent sound drivers and DirX 9.

4. Would get messages informing me that other empires had built a wonder after it had already been built by someone else.

All in all, great game! I know this isn't very detailed (I'm a progger too) but it was my first game. I will pay closer attention next time.

Possible bug (maybe just bad luck?)

I've played about 4 or 5 games now (all on large/huge galaxy) and for each game both the Moon (volcanic?) and Meteor Shower events hit the Sol system. These events never happen at another system, just Sol.

Hey no way I can read these all so in case anyone has reported this, I'm sorry. It doesn't seem EARTH is taken in account when determing best planets for a game. Just finished one and Earth was definetely my top plante and it didn't show up ay all in the summary, in fact it doesn't even show up in the misc stats during the game.

I've spent enough on espionage so that I get messages about the Drengin Empire. Always the message is Drengin is at war with xxx. But there is no war, anywhere. (I have enough sensors to watch everything on the small map.) Also, I licensed aprhodisiac to the Drengin, but their ability is +26%. Shouldn't it be at least 30%?
Who needs espionage? If I want to know the military force of another empire, just go to the trade screen and it lists ALL the ships. Perhaps, it should list only the available type, but not necessarily each one.

I've been playing a gigantic map,it's gotten late in the game, however, it has reached a point now where the game keeps crashing to the desktop - no particular pattern is involved. Is there any chance I could submit the saved game that I have so that you could see whats happening? I did submit a smart exception report on this a couple of days ago...

Strange problem: Two of my colony ships heading to a star system with a single planet to colonize (don't ask why). They arrive on exactly the same turn. The first to move colonizes the planet. The second one cannot enter the system and the turn button becomes a perpetual clock. No more turns - game effectively over. I saved the game. Running with latest (.42)

Version 1.02.042

Drengin have established 2 trade routes to my empire. I thought this was illegal? Or is that some evil tech I do not know about?

Have saved game demonstrating this.

Can't find a dev reply to this question, so I figured I'd ask it again. It may already be there, but I'm just too lazy to look through almost 600(!!) posts. Recommend the devs make a FAQ for the bugs, that way we see few repeat questions.

When you select increased Military/Social production as a bonus, do they actually take effect? I really can't tell. And what about when you build a trade resource...how is it that another race can research the exact same resource when it specifically states that they cannot? The same goes for the galactic achievements.

Would really like a dev to look into this for us. It doesn't exactly ruin the game, but it sure as heck is irritating.
