I figured since it is inevitable, I will start a thread to get ideas out on a star wars mod. Who will the sides be? What will the map look like? Units? Tech? etc.

looking and sounding really good im a starwars (nut) have every game and movie ever made and over 90% of the other buyable stuff look forward to seeing this mod when done

He hasn't even though of making a PC version.

 

I doubt Lucas is that far involved. The fact there isn't a PC version is a marketting / corporate decision. They are more concerned about their game being pirated, most companies would rather try to get as much sales of their console versions as possible. And then, if there is any more profit to be found, make a PC version. Everyone who already wanted the game has paid for the console version... and the few PC users that actually by legitimate, they get some sales profit there too.

You have to turn on the mod in the options menu. Once you do that the Empire is just a faction that you select as you would TEC, Vasari, or Advent in a normal game.

i apoligise if i have been unclear, the empire dosen't show up as you described, it only allows me to use the 3 original factions

It does. If you've enabled the mod and it doesn't show up, maybe you have the mod's directory nested inside one of the same name.

Sooo....yeah, thought I might post to keep this thread alive.

Now, you mentioned that the rebels would have different fighters/bombers in different ships. What about the Empire?

Also...umm...I hate to ask you this since I asked you for one last time too but, umm......update....maybe? ^.^'

O.K. hears a question for some one to answer. Why do some engines/thrusters glow red and others blue. So far as I can tell it has nothing to do with thrust, size or the fuel that the engine uses.

 

As for the discussion on businesses giving to charities well… businesses exist for one thing to make money no more no less (I.E. they want profits not world peace)

 

          P.S.  EvilleJedi I have followed your work for the last seven years or so (started when I was 12) And I have always be very impressed by it.  Keep up the spectacular work.

sorry about the lack of updates, I've been busy with R/l stuff and have a vacation coming up, hopefully some updates in the next two weeks (I will have updates on the warlords site gallery of any progress on the models)

ive been working on converting some of the warlords models myself and working off of SoGE i might be able to get a republic faction mini mod out soon. just wondering if i should step up my work on this (kinda been on the back-burner for a bit) so how many would be interested in that? it would need to be balance tested and atm it would just be an add-on for 7 deadly sins by DANMAN.

and of course if Eville is not objecting to me using his work as a base for some stuff. (weapon effects, a few ship mesh files from SoGE, etc.)

If i know EJ, He updates like i do. When he feels it is ready for an update. Right now is a time of transition because of the upcoming patch so work may have stopped like on SoA 2 until the patch goes online. That doesnt mean no new models arent being worked on just that theres no point in updating a mod that the new patch is going to break anyway.

Er, anyway, if mods are being put on hold for the sake of the patch, would they be, I guess you could say, compatible with both the current and the furutre patch? If not, then that really upsets me.

Also, just as a quick note about Corperations and charities: Normally, from what I've seen, they'll give out money if and when they start having trouble as a means to distract those who were somewhat discontent with their business.

I also can't help but wonder if anyone has thought of making a map replicating the galaxy in Star Wars featuring all of the planets, or as many as it would take, anyway.

Why would you be upset? I cant speak for EJ, but what a patch means for me is that all support for previous versions of mods should cease in favor of the new upgrade. 1.1 will break any 1.05 mod. There is no point in supporting a sins 1.05 version of a mod when 99% of the community will upgrade to the new patch. Why do double work for free just for the 1% that want to be die hards, and not upgrade? Its like Dawn of War. Each, and every one of its patches broke the mods, and all the mods had to be redone for each new patch. Did those mod teams support the older versions of their mods? Hell no, and i dont blame them.

yeah that's also a big reason, there was a lot of work to get it to work with 1.09 (more of a lot of trial and error until I figured out what broke) and I'm hoping it won't get trashed with a final release of 1.1. THis gives me time to work on art assets that have needed to be done for a while.

Wow the Vong would be tight.  Not alot of pictures though or art about their ships and such right?  At least I don't know of any other than some book covers from NJO and ship descriptions in the novels themselves.

How will their dovin basals be incorporated in Sins?  Shields are shields, however dovin basals are dovin basals.

I would be upset because, as it is, I am on such a tight budget that I wouldn't be able to afford the expansions, so I'm worried whether or not this mod will only occur with those expanisons.

Ok, I guess I'll jump-start with a question:

The Venator: Recently, I read in one of those books that had the dissections (sp?) of all of the Star Wars ships and it said that the Venator's main hanger actually came out of the nose? Not from below, like future SS's, and not from the sides like in Battlefront II, but from the nose? Anyway, I was wondering if a) you have heard of this and b) if it will be in the mod.

SSDs: Should there/could there/will there be any in the mod? I know this question has been asked before, but a quick return to it, I think, would be a good idea.

Planets: When the mod is released, will there be a map that has the various planets (type and name) from the SW universe in it? With the release of Sins Plus, I know it would be possible to have planets like Taris, Telos, and Coruscant...but What about Kuat? I mean, Kuat does have that massive orbital ring for the ship yards, so I'm wondering if it would be best just to label an industrial planet type with the name and move on. Also, is it possible make Urban moons (Nar Shaddaa anyone?)?

SSDs: Should there/could there/will there be any in the mod? I know this question has been asked before, but a quick return to it, I think, would be a good idea.

I would like to see a SSD in the mod, but I don't think that it would be viable. It would just be too hard to balance. The only way that I can see to balance it would be to limit to only be able to build one, and it can't be your free capital ship, but to my understanding that isn't possible.
