It's not a limit of 1 tech per turn.

It's a limit of 1 tech per owned planet per turn.

Thx, Sole Soul. I'll try that out. I don't typically colonize my secondary planet. I usually save my colony ship to upgrade to a transport later.

Thx to everybody who chimed in on the ZYW tech thing. Apparently Sole Soul nailed it with the 1 tech per planet bit. Tried one out today and as usual got 1 tech per turn. Reloaded, colonized my secondary and voila, two techs per turn.

It does not apply to DA at least.  Doing ZYWs, there are several turns where I get 3 techs/turn, without having three planets.

Sentient species taste better...

That's because you had two planets.

;)

Where P is the number of owned planets, the limit is P techs per turn for DL, and P+1 techs per turn for DA and TA.

:)

Well, seeing as nobody has posted here in a few days, I guess that means it's time for me to bring up something random. I promise to not let anyone down...

... I've been combing through the AAR section of the GC2 forums, and I've come across quite a few incredible AAR's, many of which seem to come from themocaw. His AAR "Diary of a Terran Soldier" may be one of the greatest AAR's ever written. Just out of curiosity, what are my fellow tyrants favorite AAR's?

Any other people that usually post here are welcome to voice their favorite AAR's too.

... See - I told you guys I'd make sure my topic was totally random. I never fail to disappoint in the "Random" department...

a totally random topic would be how they make sugar white (answer: bone meal).

i've never read any of the AARs, but i know one of our AWOL members, FireBender, started a Themocaw thread on the ToE site.

There is a whole AAR forums with some of the more popular aar's on ToE, Diaryu of a Terran solider is there.

And yes it is awesome.

Any comments on the above rule noticed, specifically with regards to DA+TA (albeit 1 more than DL) about owned planets and researched techs per turn, since it's in-thread?

It seems you have linked the words "Altairs First Strike" to your testing AAR...

Possibly some "accidental" advertising?;)

I really should hey. I have the plot all worked out for the final chapters.....after the move though im not sure where i placed em all.

I'll look.

It's a great AAR - hope you find your chapter and post it soon.

On an offhand note, all of these fantastic AAR's have inspired me to write up one of my own. I just started, but I hope to have the first chapter or two done by the start of next week...

... emphasis on "I hope."

You may have noticed this already, but I have released the first chapter of my new AAR (ahead of time, too)...

The Unsung Beginning

Hope you guys like it. Please feel free to comment on it - it's my first AAR, and I'd like some feedback on what I did well on and what I have some room to improve on. Thanks and Best Regards.

Eh, fixed.  I blame SD's link system.

I enjoy randomness as well.  Here's my contributions:

WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement, 40th attempt".  Another random WD-40 fact is that WD-40 dissolves cocaine.
From Norwegian, 'fjord' is the only word in the English language to start with the letters 'fj'.

No, there's Crocodiles in the wild in Africa and Austraila. I know this stuff cause I'm a reptile expert.

Random facts...

You shouldn't call an official an A-hole in the middle of a basketball game - you will get a technical.

... can you guess which one is a personal experience?

DA hasn't been able to connect to the ToE website all day... any other admins got any ideas why? or anyone for that matter. he's tried different browsers, proxies, and even OS's. i checked the ban list and permissions and nothing looks messed up. any suggestions i'm sure DA would appreciate.

Thx Dys, I shoulda remembered I could communicate here some even though the site seems to have been turned over to WCers and crazed republicans 8C . but yea, What Dys said :) . It's like the site doesn't exist and my browser(all of them) time out looking for it. Thought it might have been some overprotective thing on Win7 doing it but even after booting to Xp I still have the same thing. btw: I can connect to the FTP part of the server fine, which probably only adds to the confusion cause if I was IP blocked somehow(from my ISPs end or some such) I doubt I would have access to that. A cry for help it is :'(

While it's strange that you can connect to the FTP portion, if it's happening with more than one OS it would seem likely to be an ISP-level DNS problem.  It's also possible if your DNS resolving is done locally (say via a router) that something has caused it to screw itself up, in which case a power down and power back up may be in order.

What are you using to connect via FTP, if you don't mind my asking?

And who's your ISP?  :P

Filezilla is the ftp client and my ISP is Embarq. I don't have router just using Xytel 660 DSL modem, which I did cycle with no luck. I hope I don't have to contact them over this, but I'm running out of things I can try on my end. It's just strange that ToE is the only site I can't go to.

and my ISP is Embarq.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.  Me too.  :(

I can access the ToE, though, which is even more odd.  The ToE isn't necessarily the only site you can't access-it's just the only one you go to.

I'm not seeing any congestion between Sprint and Level3 at present, however, so the problem would seem to be confined to the local portion of your ISP.

I've found that in some instances the Xytel 660 can require power pulled from it (as opposed to a simple cycle) for a period of 10-15 minutes to "reset", but this is generally only the case when the internet connection is nonfunctional.
