Isn't it weird how Asimov managed to actually connect his Robot/Empire/Foundation trilogies together? I still think that's amazing, although they could have been sealed more smoothly...too bad he only goes into 600 years of the Foundation's ascent, instead of going the whole 1000...sad that he died, good man.

Otherland Series by Tad Williams

Hmm, I've only read The War of the Flowers. How does that compare?

Well, it was weird a while ago, but all sorts of authors have "future histories" now :]

The series was continued by other authors, but none of the books turned out as well as his did and I think they were more of a blemish to their name.

Yeah, there was one called Foundation And Friends...the title makes me laugh, but I haven't read it yet.

I read one or two of the 'other' books about the Foundation, in my opinion... crap.

Enders Game... Hitchiker's Guide... I'm surprised no one has mentioned David Weber / John Ringo's works yet, too.

Dune definitely is my favourite, read part of the first foundation novel but couldn't get into it. Hitch-hikers guide is hilarious and I love Douglas Adams.

More recently I've got into Alastair Reynolds stuff, I just love his universes.

Yeah, my brother is real big into Reynolds' works.
