Question, can I take a "minor race" planet over?

I want to take over a minor race planet (the fundamentalists) and I click on their planet having like 3 battleaxes, 2 defenders and two transports filled with like 1200 mil of people total. The planet has no shield, so no ships orbiting. But I can't take the planet? My ships won't move onto it. What gives?

It is most certainly possible to take over minor race planets. But it looks like you got caught up in a bug of some sort. Same thing happened to me once. I solved it by using autopilot to travel one or two squares away, then I used autopilot to "hit" the target planet again and it worked.

Try with just the transports.
Other ships just take out the defenders the transports invade the planet.
