Why must they be so stubborn!

I've noticed that no matter how many political parties I create, the AI is 99.9% likely to choose the ONE party that is "the best". I mean, the one they pick is usually the one I pick as the best, even if I've made 3 or 4 political parties that have huge stat bonuses. I assume this is because there is a non-proportional value on the different attributes that a political party can provide. In this case I am slightly saddened by the AI's extreme greed (why can't I "convince" the AI to pick some other politicla party?) I would welcome any suggestions though. I want my speed and range without giving the AI the opportunity to have the same benefits. But I would be willing to arrange for them to have triple the amount of hitpoints on their ships... it won't matter anyway once I control 80% of the galaxy with my speed and range! I want to rawk without using "cheat keys".. don't care about metaverse I just want to have a fun game where I actually have the upper hand, because I'm such a poor player! Suggestions?! :) LOL

If you want to play a game where you can crush the AI without effort, just play cakewalk. Gradually increase the difficulty until you start losing.

Or get AP... and play a map where you get the better of the set up. Say, a PQ 45 starting world. With large purple star clusters near you with 5 PQ 35 worlds each. And starting fighting ships to blow up the incoming aliens starting colony ships.

The AI is picking your "Rocks" party because they want to "rox" as well. It's what you'd do, in their place.

So, get AP and play on custom maps, or just lower the difficulty on the AI so that you can really enjoy squashing them.

a PQ 45 starting world

Class 20 Planet is the best I see, without a PQ bonus.

5% PQ bonus makes the planet class 21
10% PQ which I never use makes the planet class 22.

The best I ever seen RARE was a class 26 planet.

How can anybody start with a class 45 planet ?

You may be able to get the bonuses you want through Ability picks when starting a game but you will have to edit the English.str file. Find the 'AbilityOptions' table and set the values for the ability you want, and then set the ability option cost to zero.

I am not sure if this will work, I think I read it in the strategy forums, but you can check it out.

Does that actually work? The only time i know someone tried it, they ended up witn an anomalous score. So if anyone has manged to do it then please let me know. If you would rather let me know in private then please email me on Dream_Warrior > [email protected]

Thanks :HOT:

Well he said he doesn't care about metaverse, so it wouldn't really matter to him if the score was anomalous.

By using the map editor in AP.

The AP map editor can create planets of any arbitrary base class. I know first hand that Gal Civ can deal with planets as high as class 1328.

I'm planning to creating a scenerio where every major race starts with a class 300 planet, just to see what kind of insanity results.

What I would want from a scenario would be for each race to start with a class 300 planet, but make the rest of the galaxy random. The scripting currently available in the editor isn't good enough. You can create a random map and change the homeworlds to class 300, but you can't start with class 300 homeworlds and then generate a random map.

If you were really going to do that, you might want to give the minors class 1000 planets to start, or huge racial abilities.

Generate the random map, then remove the olds homeworlds, clear out an area or eight somewhere and place the homeworlds manually.

Unfortunately, this isn't possible right now. The abilities a minor race gets are hardcoded.

If this were possible, it might make an interesting alternative, though: a normal game where the minors start with a rediculously high class planet but don't go conquering the rest of the sector/galaxy. The first person to either come up with the funds to buy off a minor race's planet (expect it to cost about 3 billion bcs, judging from a game where I had a +618% racial morale bonus and started buying off I-League planets just to see how long I could stay in debt before my morale started dropping) or the military hardware to conquer one will pretty much clean up the game.
