Dedicated Gameing PC--no Windows, mac or linux allowed

Dedicated Gameing PC--no Windows, mac or linux allowed

How can i make one?

I just got back from reading a few forums on a few sites that were dedicated to talking about Performance comparison between the XBOX 360 and the PC.... it woke me up to the shocking reality that i already new but didnt realize it until now!

For the asterisks, read below the list..

--PCs actually can be as powerful as a 360!*
--Consoles are a heck of alot more cheaper than PCs as far as hardware inside.
--PCs have a lot of other features that a console doesnt have (really obvious)
--Xbox 360s have a lot of potential still as software developers are using a new console and are unfamiliar with it, with that said as they gain more experience, they will be coming out with better games::: i still think that no game studio currently has a game that even scratches the maximum capability of the Green and white beast of a box.....

*Giving that a PC with a decent setup and is well mounted, and doesnt have the overhead of a windows filesystem or anything on it, it would be pretty friggin powerful!

The grounds for this post is for me to gain knowledge of how i can find a "dashboard" (in other words, a way i can load and play computer games without having anything installed on my computer except for the games themself, and my hardware drivers.

other grounds for this post are to get people in the WC community to talk about a Dedicated PC that has no operating system but can play games!

if you know of a solution that will help me, please comment below or if you just wanna talk about it thats ok too because... i plan to make a dashbord for my comp if i can find one already made and if my version of a dashboard works i will releas it here on WC exclusively and hopfully have it sponsored by WC or Stardock (of course it will be free untill it gets popular)

Ps3 also beats all in price, and all other consoles beats it in terms of games.

No it doesn't. It's the most expensive of the three. $399 for PS3, $349 for the 360 and $250 for the Wii...

Exactly what I meant. It IS the HIGHEST price of all.

$399 xbox 360 does not include a high deifinition drive. That costs an extra $170. You can argue about the utility of the drive though. PS3 games can be as big as 25 GB because they are written on a blu-ray disk. It allows for full 1080p rendering and uncompressed 8 channel audio. Xbox 360 cannot.

If someone says they do not need high definition games, Wii is the winner.

With 20GB hard drive on Xbox 360, I have to keep deleting stuff that I download. On the 60GB PS3, I don't need to. Then again, there isn't much to download on PS3

Sorry XX I misunderstood.

$399 Xbox? Where? I see them priced at $349 everywhere I go. And your right Wii is the answer as they are outselling Sony and Microsoft.

I just have to ask this: Why all the talk about the Xbox? The Playstation 3 beats it in terms of hardware not to mention the Nintendo Wii is outselling both...

im just using the 360 as a point of referance because its the only one of the next gen consoles i actually own and know about

im not saying the PS3 is bad in fact i like what playstation has to offer....i like square enix's Star Ocean and many other ps games you saw on the first ps.... besides, the ugly gray contraption of a ps1 was my first console!

@ Chris,, you know i think im gonna do what you said about the other forums but gonna see if someone here, has a program already like the one i need....maybe that they cooked up on a rainy day??

@ Night Train, thats what it would be like!

Yeah? Pong console was first for me.

Anyway Wii definitely is way to go, it has low price and good games.

My bad, I completely forgot about the recent price cuts. The core system is just $279 which is very close to the Wii price. At that price point, it is a very good bargain.

ohh i know how to do all of that, i have my computer right now running without explorer as we speak! all i had to do is go to the task manager and and click the process :explorer.exe and click end.....

You do realize that when you end that process and your screen flashes a couple of times, all your icons disappear along with your taskbar and then it all comes back that eplorer.exe has just restarted.

yeah but my explorer didnt come back
..if you end it intentionally it stays ended unless i hit a glitch..... but it stays ended when end the explorer.exe as in nothing comes back to the screen

its not like i cant get it back cus then, from the task manager all i have to do is click file>new task> and then type the same thing i cancelled out back into the box(explorer.exe) and everything shows back on the screen

when you kill this process, i found also that it doesnt kill the others with it so even though it does help it still isnt enough.....

anyways thx to everyone, as i will be gone for a while due to an unexpected event that has taken place in my life! so just keep posting if you want! and thanks again!

if you want to get the best possible performance out of a pc, then install xp x64 disable
all programs that start with windows close explorer and open the game with taskmanager this is as close to no os as you can possibly get.

Wrong. Unless you have made some modification to the OS or your OS is not functioning properly, explorer.exe will restart upon intentional shutdown.

I really don't know why I am wasting my time. It's not like you are really going to get far. You want to design an OS and make a sole gaming PC but you don't take the time to proof read a simple 10 line blog. Check you title. It gaming not gameing.

Sorry, but being anal is a sign of a good programmer. When you are dealing with hundreds of thousands or even millions of lines of code, there is no room for mistakes.

You have a long way to go and a lot to learn before you follow your pipe dream of developing a gaming OS.

lol i know, i am a perfectionist myself .....i just type and write without proper proof reading/ editing as in this is something i dont take my time with.
maybe i should brush up on my grammar and other things in correlation to the english language, even though its not that big of a deal, but i do have the help of my uncle and cousin who make progs and help me troubleshoot my errors in VC# and VC++
and when i really want to complete something, i usually take my time!

they also heard about my plan to make a gaming os and want to help

your ok. dont worry about it! if you feel like your wasting your time i cant help that
but say im sorry for being a little bit of a novice

also i do have a long way to go.. i really dont know how to modify anything so i will probably have to check out that explorer.exe glitch with microsoft

::also take note that if you kill the explorer.exe process, you are still able to get the task manager back up using the keycombo everyone knows about, wile the desktop is gone with everything else therefore it can be brought back using the steps i listed
above ///open task manager>file>new task>type explorer.exe and click run

at least this is my case, i might have a malfunction in my system tho,, i dont know yet therefor i will contact MS as soon as i get some stuff done today...because you all are getting me worried about it lol!

Thx Again everyone!

ps.....i am back now for a while...it turns out that my reason for being away was not a problem at all
