Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

And if you put all those things withing range of a Military Starbase array, the effects are multiplied.

Honor and glory to jacklv, for a mighty conquest of almost 800,000 light-years!

Also congratulations to Snarkotamus for another victory spanning over 300,000 light-years!

I thought there were +HP modules in ToA?

There are ship +hp modules, but no starbase hp-assist modules.

But they're not worth the space if you're trying to rack up military points.  On a huge hull, you're looking at 2 hp per space, which equates to 0.5 weapons per space, before multiplied by hp modifiers and the omega defense system.

A BHE/nightmare torpedo, on the other hand, is ~1.78 attack per space.

-

Huge hull, 115% miniaturization (322 space): 1 BHE/nightmare torpedo, 77 organic hull platings or integrity grids.

616+90=706 HP*2.05=1447*2(Omega Defense System)=2894/4=723 military might "weapons", plus 25*1.25 (orbit bonus, actually 1.26)=723+31=754.

(60% standard bonus counting Xinathium Hull Plating, 70% if you get hull strengthening from the Drengin tree, 85% if you get organic hulls from the Iconian tree, +30% bonus from customization points)

322 space = 23 BHEs = 575*1.25 (orbiting bonus) = 718 (actually it's 575*1.26=724) + 90*1.6 = 144 HP /4 =36 "weapons" military might.  724+36=760

-

So a huge hull full of BHEs, in orbit, with no military bonuses whatsoever, contributes more to your military rating than a huge hull with 1 BHE and filled out with 77 HP modules, even when all HP increasing sources are used, after being multiplied by the omega defense system.

You might also notice that I haven't used an attack/defense boosting module for this example.  That would tip the balance even more so in favor of weapons-or defenses, for that matter.

The all-BHE ship is also 1100BC cheaper (5100BC to 4000BC).

:)

Would the Omega Defense system work well if it were on the same planet as the Spin Control Center?

I forget the equation, but a ship's military might is based on its offense, defense and hitpoints. So would the Spin Control Center take the ships in orbit, and use the added hitpoints before determining the military power on the planet?

I use it very early in the game to get a rapid boost in my rating. Usually with defenders and crappy weapons. If I understand the Military Scoring correctly, the earlier I start building up my forces, the better the eventual score. The ODS may not contribute much once I have advanced weaponry, but it sure motivates me to crap a planet full of ships in a hurry.

Now for the Dirty Trick of the Day: I have found that once I have 80% or so of the planets in an Immense Galaxy under my control, I can get rid of spies very quickly by simply giving an infested planet to a race with weak influence. I usually get it back almost immediately via culture-flip, and the spies are gone! Very handy when I have 5 spies on a single planet, and the expense of producing new agents has gotten extremely high.

Better than otherwise, yes.

KP......Thanks.

I was fortunate. Early econ boom (Q3 Y1).  Resources were 8 econ, 7 morale and 5 military.
With 4 Hyperion Shrinkers (1 built, 3 captured), built/bought/upgraded 12,000+ huge hulls
armed with 49 ZPA and 1 BHE (515 before HP, Drath 50% defense & resource bonus').

Will post the numbers/details if you want.

BTW see my new medal?

Yep, nice new medal!  :congrat:   An early economic boom is definitely a great boon for scoring, and necessary for a spectaclar score.  Great work, and looking forward to seeing some more details.

I'm thinking that you're talking about the event where theres and economic boom so, I think I did, but not symultaneously at the same time. One ended and then there was another not long after.

has anyone gotten 2 economic bonuses in a single game?

Yes I definitely have.

KP.... want anything else, just ask

                                                    Social        Research       Economic         Military            Score

Curve Value                                   7,370                               1,475            9,925

Summary Score                                 101              12                425               679              794

Conditions: Suicidal, Drath, all Factory;  455 planets;  8 econ, 7 morale & 5 military resources.

Social: Didn't try to score here... kept planets @ 18b, 1 VRC. Final approval 39%.

Economic: Early boom, how sweet it is.

Military: Built huge hulls and upgraded to 1/1 each turn... 30 turns after "conquest" had 12,120 ships.

Upgraded 4 turns later. The upgrade save took 45 minutes... could have upgraded more ships.

In the last game (the one I can't save), the military curve value was 12,680 with 16,000 ships.

sorry about the text, with this W/P, I'm retarded, can't copy/paste correctly from spreadsheet

@ mADDYman

the key to scoring is to "keep" the first econ boom.  When you lose it, go back to previous save, it will be there.

in this last game i kept the boom for over 5 years with ? 5-7 restarts.

I see what you mean. i might set my autosave to go off every 3 or 2 turns just so i remain up to date

Thanks for the info jacklv.  At what point did you reach the war-swindle?

mADDYman, I do the same thing with economic booms.  It's cheesy, but necessary for a really great score.

Snarkotamus, I see you reset Kang in preparation for +300k games, and submitted another one already.  Excellent! :D

I have my own version of the Swindle. It's really hard to explain but I can say that it involves alot of ARC.

KP.... Conquest was by war (don't know a swindle solution in DL)

01/27 “Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war
8/27 Conquest ~ 400 transports ~ 70 HH attack craft (speed kills)

In-House Analysis: – late conquest + AI builds better
no substitute for military power

Unfortunately, the scoring depreciation is already F&$&()#ing me after the 2nd game. At least I broke 350k. Next game, I will attempt to completely wipe out all but 1 AI planet by the end of year 4. Maybe I can break 400k.

Makes your score all that much more impresive, that you didnt use Swindle tactics.

Yeah the depreciation with successive games is a real b*tch.  When I first started playing I was surprised how steep it was.

don't misunderstand, I'm pleased.   but I think we both know, in better hands (and maybe a better rig) this map could do  7 didgits.  Can you imagine being the Evil Twin with 946 and not being able to upgrade/save all your ships?

now thats a REAL b*tch

Yeah the depreciation with successive games is a real b*tch.

At least it motivated me to break 400k. Part of the credit goes to jacklv for giving me the idea to turn the random events on. I got an econ boom AND an influence boom fairly early in the game. Sadly, the idiot Torian ambassador just HAD to visit that $&#( factory on one of my planets later and get whacked. It was a short war. My military rating was something like 250 vs 25. 500ish planets vs 8. 250+ influence rating. My fleet didn't even break a nail.....
