Please, add a plain patch-download

Can someone please put just a link on this site to the patch? My Stardock Central isn't working at all >:( , it just keeps on logging on, and it takes more time than downloading this patch would. Why should I use such a user-unfriendly program, when it should be possible to just download it? So, no entering Serial numbers or something, just a link so I can download, and not only on the computer where I have installed GalCiv. >:(

Have you contacted support or discussed your problems here? There is alot of people around that might be able to help you with SDC. What's the error you get?

I agree0. Release all patches on a separate ftp server or something. SDC is not very intuitive and it makes things needlessly complicated from an end user perspective.

Yes agreed. I am not sure SDC actually works correctly. I hope they figure out why. For some it works..for others it does not..for some it trashes the game...ouch..

Fredrik, I get no error message at all. It just keeps on displaying that clock-thing. One time I finally was logged in, but SDC downloaded an update of itself, and exited. Now I could wait again a long time. That's what got me frustrated and post this thread.

The idea behind SDC is that you can DL patches only if you have valid serial number. Since SDock is planning to update the game for a whole year, it is a pretty good way to protect your investment from piracy if you ask me.

Piderman - if you ask nicely, I am sure good folks at SD will help you out.

I don't think you would need a serial for an update. You can do nothing with it.

Yes you can - you can get a pirated copy of the game and update it with the patch.

Brad's said in other threads that there WILL be downloadable patches, simply not every time they update the game. They'll be released about as reguarly as patches for most other games, and will include all the small fixes that were made available through SDC since the last direct-download patch.

I discovered why my SDC didn't work: I had Seti@Home running. It appears it doesn't work with that. BTW, what is the new version of GalCiv, so I can see that I have the correct version?

I updated (and it said it was successful) but it only shows 1.01 as the version :(

Paul: In SDC, go to Tools --> Settings, and check "Show Application Revisions".
