Learning how to spell or at least proof read your post.

Learning how to spell or at least proof read your post.

Things to consider before you post.

Don't post till you check your spelling. I know it might be difficult but why look like someone with a second grade education when you know you can do better. I think most just post and never look back to read what they have written first. Maybe you look after you post and think "oh no" did I really do that? Most miss-spelled words are just that, the person couldn't spell it, some are just silly as in the word wallpapers or problem, those look like someone who is frustrated but I think just re-reading your work is a must before you post. No one here might say anything but we do think it. There is no spell check for the posts here and I have been at other sites that have them and people seem to think they are too smart to use them.  I would say to that, so sorry but your post didn't make the cut because you didn't spell check. Here there isn't that option so you must proof read your post first and if you are not sure of the spelling please look up the word first to make sure you look like someone took a little time to read before you post. I do this for my own sanity. I try very hard to make sure I at least try to spell it right before I post. I might not be the brightest bulb in the box but I don't want to look like the broken bulb either. Please just check before you post and save the people here from looking at these mistakes and try to use "Caps" where needed. Couldn't hurt. Thanks from someone who goes crazy when she views posts like this.

Hmmm...this post hasn't yet covered those of us who set our keyboards ablaze while typing, so half of our keys are missing by the time we finish typing a single sentence. It's pretty hard to type it righ wen or kybard s flmng...

And talking about spelling in IRC channels...if I'm gonna get my 2c in, I've gotta type fast or the other comedians on the channel will beat me to a punchline and be halfway through the next topic!!! Anyway...the moral: gud peeple spel rite. The bad people spell like this. ;p

It isn't all that much about how good the spelling is.... but about how lazy and inconsiderate the typist is towards his target audience.

That's more to the point. :)

I think that if the conversation has a bit of misspelled words then the conversation gets a bit informal, cause then you dont care about writing everything in order and you will get a bit more frank in the conversation. Thats why my first pm was to Zubaz and I feel free to ask him about everything I m not sure of. I love Zubaz and Zubish. :D

I'm not sure that I am teh best standard for non-English speakers to emulate.   :NOTSURE:

I ALREADY GAVE UP, THIS RANT CONTINUES ONLY BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP POSTING. I ENDED IT, I SAID I AM NOT PERFECT AND I WAS JUST HOPING PEOPLE WOULD TRY A LITTLE HARDER ON THE MAIN PART OF THE POST. NOT EVERY LITTLE THING. WHEN YOU POST "i want to make abstract walpapers" I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN LOOKED AT A LITTLE MORE BEFORE POSTING, IT DROVE ME TO DRINK...... ;p I AM SORRY I BOTHERED TO START ANY POST AT ALL. THANKS TO ALL WHO DECIDED TO NOT READ MY LAST POST AND KEPT IT GOING.

I GET IT NO ONE CARES........

I care.   :)
I jsut have a different opinion . . one that I thought might open discussion as much as your initial post.

You've been here long enough to know that some posts take on a life of their own.  It's the nature of the communication medium (like poor grammer, poor spelling, and lack of effort on the part of some people).  You should also know by now that jsut because you say a topic is over does not mean it's over for everyone.  And that's OK too.

So . . drink if you want . . raise a glass to "good ol' Zubaz" if you do.  If you are approaching a point where you are drinking too much because of this place . . . put down the glass and google for a 12 step program for frustrated grammarians.  :D

Ahhh, don't take too much from it. We often venture off into uncharted, non-relative rants here. It's all in good fun. ;)

My all time favorite punctuation comment goes to Night Train in this thread WWW Link. It still cracks me up.

Original Post:
Man if i was a good enough skinner i'd make you that theme... ... I smoke it too and i'm a very motivated, smart person... when i smoke i feel more relaxed and focused... maybe i'm just a nervous person... but i smoke often, as often as possible... i have a good job making good money and it doesn't and hasn't ever affected me in a bad way

Night Train's response:
Except you lost the ability to capitilize your I's.

You see, I happen to be quite a spelling/grammatical genius, so I could correct just about anybody with more than a two-sentence post (sometimes less).

Apparently you are quite modest, too.......
My mother was an English teacher and taught me the value of proper spelling, grammer, and punctuation (as well as the importance of pronunciation). Reading a poorly written post can be rather annoying (to me, at least), but it can definitely be humorous (just look at some of Zu's old posts!).....

Just joking... :)

It isn't all that much about how good the spelling is.... but about how lazy and inconsiderate the typist is towards his target audience.

If it looks like the person couldn't give a toss about how well he communicates then I can't [equally] give a toss about caring to read/comprehend.

You get as good as you give. Treat your respondents like crap and they'll walk..

And there you have it.

Of course! Modesty is just one of my many wonderful traits!

I just love how sweet everyone is here. We are just such a bunch of crazy people who need to get lost in the ever enlarged post.

Cause and effect, one line, then another, without thought.

But I like it really I do.

We keep the thread open for more information.

We keep this thread producing more and more information, spelled wrong, NO.

We learn how to make paragraphs.

We learn how to spell.

It's just like going back to school again.

Please proof-read my note and make sure to find something I didn't do right.

I need teachers to help me. I need my friends here to make sure I am learning how to do this right.

I am not being nasty, I really like this. I am grateful and humbled for all the right reasons.

Thanks to all ;)

Isn't the message more important than how the message is communicated?
Yes and No.
The message should be thought out before posting only because we get so many who rant and that is due to frustration.
I know when I sit down to write I found when I rant I tend to make many mistakes.
I would rather people feel I took the time to think about what I was writing.
I make plenty of mistakes as well when it comes to writing but I would like the information look good on the website when asking a question.
When someone tells me they want to learn how to do something, I would hope to see that the person asking has the ability to learn what I am about to teach them.
If they can't even get the question, (simple as it might be) right then how hard will it be to make them understand simple instructions.
I have seen this on the site.
Someone who asks how to do something and is given instructions, only to find that they can not even follow the simple ones.
I asked only that the person check the question before submission. A simple mistake is fine when you type too fast, spelling isn't always the issue when we are talking large amounts of information in a long letter or large amount of information.
I was speaking of two posts, one day, where several people were asking for instuctions on how to do (whatever) and then made simple mistakes that made them look like no matter what we told them they would be unable to understand the simple instructions on how to do it.
Caps are over looked all the time since we text all the time without thinking.
Our cell phones are full of stuff like this.
example...
(hey how are u, i just wanted to say hi, whz up) etc. You get the idea here. I like text speak and the simple way we communicate in this way.
Use it or lose it they say....Do you think this is too much to ask?
If so then I guess I am alone in this and OCD for no reason.
Most likely I am anyway ;p  X-(  ;)

For those who believe in the written word, I hope I am not alone.

I'll say it again. We aren't writing Senior Papers here. Who the hell cares how it's spelled, written, looks, etc. If you are a moderatley educated adult, you can figure out what most people are trying to say. There are far more important things in this world to get your panties in a wad over than spelling/formatting of a freaking forum post! The more I type, the angrier I get here so I'll submit. Jeeesh!
