Minor Races - Can You Turn Them Off Before Game?

I don't think so, but why would you want to turn off such benign resource?

Yer better off with them in the long run. Just trade with em, and once you get a tech advantage, attack to maim, not kill, sue for peace and take all their tech.

Also, I`d like this too for various reasons (Independants, Dragonin.. argh!)

travathian - If you`re a beginner it is a mistake to attack a minor with their uber economies.. YOU will be the one that is maimed, not them. I found that out the hard way in my first few games.. the Alexians fielded an armada bigger than any other empire in the game. Thank god they didn`t use transports.

I want those minor races to trade me the tech that improves a horrid planet rating (10) into a great one (20+). (I don't remember the numbers, but it was amazing.)

I personally dislike the minor races much moreso than like. Every game I have played, they tend to build the monopolistic trade resources very early and far ahead of anyone even trying. If I can buy the resource, most of the time I do so. But the other major races do not compare well to the minor races (in this regard). Odd, as far as I am concerned.
