Map editor question

When I creat a new map, a few times i've had the enemy die the fist move. I place them on a class 20 planet seeing if that makes a difference, but it's hit and miss. Now when I play with the map editor, I just put the starting position of myself and one other. I use class 20 planets for test. About 90% of the time either I or the enemy dies on the first turn. I know when I will die because my research time is like 1000 turns for any of the projects. I place both of us in the either top-left square and bottom-right square. What am I doing wrong?

When you set the starting position, are you clicking both homeworld and the race name from the right click menu?

I had this same experience... I set up a game with each race's starting world set at 44 (including human). To try to get to the later tech stages of the game, I figured I'd give everyone a great starting position. Unfortunately I die when updating the first turn by military defeat.

And to answer CariElf's question, yes. I selected both race and homeworld for starting positions.

Ah ha! I upgraded to GC AP v1.52b.013 and it seems now to work fine. You might try upgrading.
