I saw the A.I. do something crazy

The Torians got the event where they finds a ton of corvette-class ships. A few turns later, I find him attacking my planet with 64 corvettes! I would be thinking cool except for one thing. He attacked my planet one ship at a time!!! I had to sit there and watch every corvette get killed by the one dreadnought I had defending the planet. I guess my big question is, wouldn't his attack have been much stronger if he would have hit me with all 64 corvettes at once instead of watching each one indivdually getting wasted? If so, then the A.I. made a big mistake here.

What level did your Dreadnought get up to afer that? :)

All ships attack individually. There is no such thing as a combined attack in GalCiv.

The corvette horde event is pretty cool if you get it early, because it is the closest thing you will ever get to a early rush strategy.

Frogboy: if they form a fleet they get destroyed quicker :D or win quicker. tha AI should do this!

So the one by one attack is just as effective as a big 64 at once attack?

If so I guess the A.I. is doing the right thing. Kinda of monatonous to see 64 corvettes get blown away but hey it works.

Well, it IS kinda slow but why then can you send like a fleet of 16 ships and attack at once... (I mean, it probably attacks individually within the system but it prolongs the computer moves if you watch something like 24 ships go and attack it simultaneously... kinda funny when it takes 19 corvettes to take apart my Ranger... and even then...)

To me it would make more sense to have them combine into a fleet then attack. There's no way that 64 corevettes attacking as a fleet should have the same disadvantage as attacking one at a time.

I agree, I think 64 corvettes would pose a serious threat to a single ship of any type.

I think a great way to handle this would be as follows:

When you attack (or the AI attacks you), you decide how many of the fleet are going to attack at once. If you have say, 15 corvettes, when you click the enemy, a dialog box opens that queries how many ships you are attacking with. If you select 8, then only ONE ship does the graphics attack thingie, but it calculates as 8 corvettes. If the enemy attacks and would damange your corvettes, X # would be destroyed (if the attack was going to do this). This would make many on one and many on many ship battles go faster, and be a bit more interesting, IMO.

However, they may have well thought this out as part of the game.. and maybe doing it any other way will screw it up? dunno..
