Interface questions...

I bought this some time ago because I like 4x games but never played it much. Started it up again last night but now I remember some of the reasons I stopped the first time.

Anyway, maybe I'm just missing something...

a) is there a way to tell who just zapped your last ship? I know the message will take you to the sector but sometimes you can't tell what race did you in.

b) is there a way to find a system? Sometimes an event will occur at a system (not one that's I've populated) but I have no idea how to find that star.

c) anyone have any suggestions on how to deal w/ large planet lists? I hope GC2 has better management for large civs.

d) how does production bonus work? The manual says 50% free 50% paid... but I'm not sure "what" is paid. Does that mean if I've got a building that costs 100 I need to pay 50 mil/soc shields to get it built? and if i have +10% production then I need to pay... 45? 40? I assume production bonus applies to military and social? It doesn't seem reflected in the "+ x" area of the mil/soc production levels for the planet descriptions. Or maybe my levels were too low to get the bonus to trigger?

e) outside of the governor there's no way to queue things right?

f) propoganda. that's for keeping your civ from leaving... how effective is it? I couldn't find mention of it in the manual.

g) is there a way to turn the tutorial tips on in a normal level game?

... I should probably play the tutorial again. :P

Thanks.

well, in the right side of the screen, where you have your planet list, there is a way to acceed to solar system list.

What would you want? You allways have the way to sort your planet list with different criteria.

d) how does production bonus work? The manual says 50% free 50% paid

Ok, that could be tricky, since the % of free production depends of the bonus (empire wide, due to planetary improvement, or from starbase).
To be simple, let's say that your planet has a base production of 24BC, and that you have 50% production bonus with only 33% of this bonus is free.
So your planet will produce:
- 24 BC of base production
- 24*0.5*2/3 = 24/3 = 8 BC of paid bonus production
- 24*0.5*1/3 = 12/3 = 4 Bc of free production

The planetary screen will tell you that the production is 32 + 4, meaning 32 paid production and 4 free production. The total production is 36 Bc and this is this total production that is invested in projects.

e) outside of the governor there's no way to queue things right?

Well, since I tend to use always governor ford (the default governor for all planets), I haven't really try to see if something can be done in the planetary detail screen

Have you looked at the options screen?

b) Yeah, I noticed that. I just installed the 1.2 Patch last night. I wasn't on the 1.05 version that I was at.

c) Yeah, but it's rather slow to sort the planets like that. I'd like to see more of them and a pull down instead of a scrolling bar. easier and faster.

g) Yeah, I either missed that the first time or it was picked up in the patch after I installed it.

Thanks.
