Disabling Certain Types Of Victories?

Is it at all possible to disable certain types of victory, as I want to start my first huge game, but I don't want it to to end via a research victory, as I like to be very, very, extremely slow in expanding, taking one sector at a time. Is this possible please and if so, how?

Thanks

Anyone at all please? I'd like to start a really big game, but I don't want to get stuck in, if it means I'm going to be defeated because of a reasarch victory when I'm still slowly expanding :) .

Thanks,

Morganite.

Yes, you have control. On the intro page where you choose political party, etc. is the winning conditions box in the right lower corner. You have to check which victory conditions you want by clicking on the box. If no boxes are filled, then victory is by military only.

I haven't played this way in a while but a total culture flip also or used to count as a military victory. Have fun. :)

There isn't a box on the bottom right though, there's just the thing about how abundant you want habitable planets?

Thanks for replying.

Ok, let's start from scratch.

Boot up the game and you get the top level menu, a circle with squares positioned around it. Click on the Play game square. Then comes the video, if you have it turned on. Then you get the menu with boxes lined up vertically, click on Start new Civilization.
The next screen is the one you want. the screen is divided into two pieces, left and right. In the right pane at the bottom it says "winning conditions" Select the condition you want. Default is they are all on.

Select the condition you want. Default is they are all on.

Of course when you change the selection of the condittions the next time you start up your game, the same selections are there and automatical a 'default' so each time you change it... and you start up a new game it will be the same unless you change that selection.
