Galactic Monster Park - How to Build?

In a recent game, I was voted the best race to build the (slightly risky) Galactic Monster Park. When I check the UP resolutions, I can see "Earth is nominated to build...."

But nowhere can I see the option to build the park, or that it auto-built, nor is it a tech, a trade good, anything. Help!

The park is build automatically, you will not see it. But later in the game you will find out what it means that you are "elected" to host it.

It is build automatically after the nomination (at least this is what i remember from one of my games). BTW there was soem disaster and three Space Sharks escaped...

Anybody has been able to prevent the space sharks from escaping?
(hiring jailers for example, stagging defenders above, feeding a litte Yor spaceship from time to time)? :p

You just have to hope that you get lucky and they don't escape. As far as staging defenders goes you'll need powerful ships and they are quite powerful when escaping and have a lot of hp.

Hi Norin,

I am a coward though I don´t mess with the space sharks. Still in at hread Frogboy (Brad) mentioned that there are multiple ways to deal with random events. Though I though maybe I am missing something.

Just make the most of the escape. Try & lure the sharks into enemy territory using a low value ship. Then just let them decimate their fleet

Or just vote it into someone else's territory altogether. Same with the galactic prison. Make sure it's as far away from you as possible.

Beefy is right, i always host that Zoo thing, when they escape, i use a lowly defender to lure it to the heart of the strongest AI, let it kill me ship, then i try to get a sensor in range and laugh manically as the AI wastes all its resources trying to stop them :D

As for the prison, I'll take it, I just make sure I build a starbase very close to the system that gets the prison, and fully upgrade the defenses of the starbase. The prisoner's ship will go straight for it and go poof!

A starbase with an Interdiction Beam can stop those space sharks dead in their tracks -- with the added bonus that the next time the AI attacks you in that sector, it will usually get distracted and waste their forces on the sharks instead.

(I had an AI player waste 40+ Progenitor Corvettes on one shark... didn't even kill it. Did save me the hassle of killing them though.)
