Trade Goods/Wonders Fix

I'd like to say the team have been giving great support on the patches. Lots of initial problems have been fixed.

However, I'd like to know what the status is on the the trade goods/wonders problem. At the moment, all the races can build them, as long as they start building them before anyone else finishes them. I would of thought this was a fairly major thing to fix, because they really should be cheaper if you don't know you are going to have a monopoly on them.

In my last ame it seemed like the Torians were taking advantage of this ; they were hardly offering anything in exchange for a trade good, and then they finished building it a few turns later, even though I'd payed out a hefty lease to get it before anyone else did.

Another bump...as far as I know there has been no acknowledgement of this rather glaring problem. :)

This has appeared on the boards so much that we've become desensitized to it. There is a stickyed bugs thread, so look there before posting, and post there if it's not.

You mean the bugs thread that's currently at 515 posts? ;) It's there more than once.

Sigh... I know this has already been reported, but what I was asking was why so many other fixes have been put in, while this one has been left. It's a serious fault, since it pretty much negates the point of trade goods and wonders, and it comes up in pretty much every game.

I am NOT hasseling the devs to fix this. They have given wonderful support, and asking for much more now would be greedy. I just want to know if there is some problem with fixing this.

A suggestion would also be to not allow minor races to build trade goods. In my last game 3 different minor races research 3 different trade goods within about 10 turns. That really pisses you off if you haven't started building of them.

yeah, it's terrible when minor civs actually do stuff other than bankroll your empire. next thing you know they'll be defending their planets. ;p

seriously though, i think it's great that they can build trade goods and wonders, it's a good reminder that you've been slacking off on either the tech or social front. unfortunately conquering a minor race does not transfer ownership of the trade goods. they just kinda disappear from the game.

cheers

When the AI has build a wonder, it disappears from my build queue immediately (v1.02). Cant see a bug here. Another story are the trade goods, you can finish them after another civ had built them. Would be nice to have an galaxy wonder/trade good progress screen which says: Hey, the Altarian are building Eye of the Universe. They have finished 23%. If they go on spending money on it like the turns before, it will be finished in 20 turns (etf). Its annoying to see an ai opponent finishing a wonder, when you are only 2 turns away (and loosing all the production). What will you do? Reloading the turn before and purchase the wonder if possible. The AIs should have the screen too and dependent to their nature, they should try to purchase wonders which fit their nature.

Galactic Exchange (as an example) has been built by multiple races in my 1.02 games.

jaustin1: Ok, maybe its a split problem: I have definetively seen a wonder disappearing from my queue after the ai finishes it. But maybe thats not true for all wonders and/or its not true for the ai civs...

The issue is not it disappearing AFTER it is built. The issue is everyone who started it at the same time being able to finish it.

I've noticed the same problem with race achievements as well. I built multiple ones in my last game by accident. It should at least disappear from the queue if another planet is working on it.

I haven't noticed the problem in 1.01a with trade goods. If I'm building it, and another race beats me to it, it disappears from any production queue that was working on it.

Malleus: I have to disagree. I am actually bulding a wonder, maybe 12 turns left. AI finishes it. It disappears , is not anymore the actual project, is not chooseable anymore, social is empty, invested production gone forever. But I have to agree, this happens not to every wonder and not to trade good.

Hook, I've seen this multiple times, by both major and minor races. It also works both ways - sometimes I will get a message that a wonder/TG has been completed by another race and it will _not_ disappear from my queue. Later, I will be able to trade it to any race but the other one that completed it. Other times they will finish it after I have. This is a fairly major bug for GalCiv. I like being able to say that, because at worst I would rate it as "medium" importance. The other bugs/problems that I have noticed have been so minor as to be considered trivial, and for the game to have so few bugs and no really severe ones, well, I'm pretty happy! I do hope they fix it soon - a check at turn end seems a pretty easy fix to me, NAPP (not a professional programmer). My two bits...
