Drengin startup good civ, still wiped me out

My question is this: I just played a game with all the civs as good civs. The Drengin declared war on me and I gave them two planets. Our diplmacy went from 'at war' to 'warm'. We were both 'good' civs at the time. Of course, two turns later they declared war again and wiped me out shortly after. Is the A.I. for the Drengin coded to act aggresively whether they are a good or evil race at the start of the game? Would the Arcaens have done the same thing? I really wanted to align and win the game with my 'good' civ brother Drengin but they would not do that. It seems that a 'warm' relation should give you what that means - a 'warm relation'. At the time the Drengin had most of the galaxy and I had 6 sectors but was not aggressive at all. Thanks.

Alto even Drengin where set as good, either good, neutral or evil races strive for victory and atleast survival.

Perhaps the Drengins hope to getmore planets of you, you are weak so and they are not.
If you don't give planets you will be attacked and if you give planets you will eventually still be attacked (leaving you up even weaker)

Reminds me of a game where the Alterians and the Torians where allied.
Unfortunatly for the Torians and the Alterians the Torians where very weak.
I could trade peace for cash, tech and influence points while they had to declare war on me again. (the noble art of subtracting cash :) )

*grin* I had the same thing a couple of times too.. (note: that *grin* is actually a baring of teeth at the Drengin Bastards, carefully disguised incase someone lets them know I'm pulling faces and they get more agreesive)

All five races set to 'Pure Good' and me being a darling angel as well... Still I get random declarations of war from the Drengin for no apparent reason (they're on the other side of the map for goodness sake!) at least the other races seem to take provocation.. Culture War or Denying Tribute... The Drengin seem pure animal instinct.. Kill, Kill!!

The Altairians always demand payment and techs from me, even if I'm "pure good," so it's a matter of preying upon the weaker.

My solution is to just keep my military strong enough to outnumber the AIs, or get them to fight each other.

Yup i do what phaedyme does, i mass BattleAx's for defense, and Trade HEAVILY until i get battleships, once i do this i put military to 80% and crank them out, I normally get 30 -100 turns before they discover that tech, as i meaningfully trade all my wonders to them for 150/20 to make sure they dont have the money to do any research while i wipe them out, i can normally wipe out two races before i notice one civ is cathcing up, i then trade with the leading tech to get them in debt, and rush my way to dreadnaught and rinse and repeat. Working onmy current game on Bright level so far :)

Heck, I use battlehammers for _offense_. Mind you, I've never had a game where the AI's managed to get producing Dreadnaughts yet, but the battlehammers sure seem to take out everything else without blinking an eye.

Dreadnoughts a mistake I made in the game I'm playing. I was the only one with the tech and at war with the Altarians. I needed money so I traded this valuable technology to the weak Torians and got very good money for it. But those bastards traded it rightaway to the Altarians (or the Altarians extorted it from the Torians) so now the Altarians are hunting me. Time to make peace I guess... for now ;)
