Problems

Well, I got my review copy of Galactic Civ's (for www.gamingeye.com) yesterday and was going to install the game today. First of all the setup process seems to interfere with the explorer process, the setup just freezes but if I kill the explorer process the set continues... Now, tha can't be good - anyone had those kind of problems?
Secondly - where do I find the code req' for installation? I have searched the box and the manual but I can not find it. The manual doesn't even mention that the game req' a code of any kind!

"First of all the setup process seems to interfere with the explorer process"

Haven't heard of that one. Lots of people have posted problems with Stardock Central and updating, but I don't think anyone's complained about the installer screwing up Explorer... :notsure:

Back of the CD cover... oyeas. :) Funny how I sometimes don't look at the most obvious place, eh? Thanks a lot!

OK, so I thought I'd describe my problem in more detail hoping that someone has a clue for what to do... this is frustrating at the least!!!

When I start the installation nothing happens. Then I look in the taskmanager it says the program isn't responding. Following the process for the installation (in programs) takes me to the explorer.exe (in processes). I guess that the install interferes with the explorer.exe in some way and the result is that I can't install the game :( Anyone got a suggestion how to solve this? My system;

Windows XP Pro
AMD XP 2100+
512 Mb DDR RAM
MSI GF4/Ti4200/128 Mb RAM

Hellpig, can you install the game on another computer? Just to see if your copy is OK?

I can/could... The admin for the site which I am going to review this game for (www.gamingeye.com, only in swedish though) installed it successfully before sending it to me. I'd add that I have also tried installing another copy of this game with the same error occuring. AND, yes, I have no problems with other games I have installed lately. This is the only one that causes problems!
Addition: yesterday I shut down the explorer.exe and started the installation from the taskmanager. Now that would work if it really was an interferens between the install and the explorer, right? Absolutley wrong. Now the install just doesn't respond... so I guess the problem is something else!
