Me not me written by Roy Carlson

In 1996, I was given the pleasure of meeting this elderly man who had been wheel chair bound for most of his life due to polio at a childhood age. Was a judge as a young man in his 30's and 40's. I use to volunteer at a nursing home and there I was his friend. I would go up to see him every weekend and sometimes even during the evenings. This sometimes was my only way out in life. at the age of 76 he passed a way due to illness. I was 21 years old pregnant with my daughter. But his memory will not die inside of me for I learned alot of my friend Roy Carlson. And I made him one promise that if I ever got published I would put his in my collection.
Me, Not Me
An elderly gentlemen gave this poem to me before he died. All he asked that when I got published to please place it in with the rest of my poems. He wrote this for one of his children.
Oh! Cookie Jug,
Oh! Cookie Jug.
In wild anticipation,
I left your lid with hesitation.
Mom, I love you and you cookie jug.
You see it had to be;
Me, Not Me!
