Can we get a tech tree like in Civ 3?

I dont mean scrap the tech interface you guys have now, I like it. But could we get like an alternate view of the tech tree, where we can click on a future tech we want, like 4d phasing or whatever, and then the techs would start researching all the techs needed in order to get 4d phasing? It would be alot easier than printing out a tech tree and reading all the descriptions for whats required for what. We would just click what we want and the tech tree would research to it.

I agree with the original poster get a proper tech tree built into the game and allow the user to select the best path to a particular advance etc. Javascout's work is great but its a pain to keep alt-tabbing to get information that should be available in-game.

Agreed. One of the great features of Civ is the ability to select a future technology and have the path to research it predetermined and put into a queue. Makes getting to a technology so much easier. As is I spend a great deal of time picking research options that I could reduce with this feature.

Yes, agree as well. I've seen Brad comment he thinks it destroys the sense of exploration - uh, yeah. Maybe for the first game. After that, you have an idea where you want to go and the current UI is just a hindrance.

Not including something like Civ3's tech tree and encyclopedia are definitely glaring holes in an otherwise solid game. The bar has been raised for the needed refinement of the interface.
