Metaverse!?

I been playin awhile and I keep submitting my score which usually ends up in the 1000s. Why isnt my name coming up on the list and where do you get the cool icons next to your name?

Couple of possible reasons:

Have you searched for your name on the metaverse? The list only shows the top 250 (seeing as how it's just an automatically generated html page it might be nice to show more as the game gets more popular).

You have to have a registered Stardock account with valid email and handle before it will show up in the metaverse, and the handle and email you use for the submission need to be the same as your account.

Beyond that, I don't know of any valid reasons why it wouldn't show. I never had a problem, but I've had a Stardock account for well over a year so I just used that alia and, voila, the data appeared.

Re: icons - they are from your metaverse status. If you check on the left side of the metaverse there's a legend of what they mean. Some people also have their metaverse empire's icon to the leftmost.

You don't have to use SDC, but you still have to create a Stardock account. Since you're posting here I assume you do have one as it's required to post. I am not sure, but I believe that registration of the game with Stardock is also required to take part in the metaverse.

Do those 2 (1?) things and use the same handle/email when the submit dialogue comes up and you should have no troubles.

Hi I am having a similar problem. I can't find my metaverse scores either. I keep trying to register the game and it says I have successfully registered it. I also have registered for the web site. Why is this so complicated? Argh! My handle is supposed to be gibbie99.

Okay, an update. I think i have registered the game properly, my stats say this:

Citizen

Name: Rob Dejournett
Nick: Rob Dejournett
Stardock.net ID: 649434

Player Name: gibbie99
Player ID: 5271
Score: 0
Metaverse Ranking: 0
Empire:

No scores! Looks like the metaverse submissions disappear to dev/null (i've tried this twice now).

I'm having the same problem - my profile shows a score of 0. I have finsihed 30 games on impossible difficulty level and they aren't showing up. . . . ok, I've finished 3 games on normal level, but they really aren't showing up. Is the only chance you have to record a game right when it ends? Do you have to be hooked to the net as you end the game? This is really starting to bug me.

You should receive a prompt at the end of the game at some point to submit your score. You should have your internet connection hooked in when you click that submit button to submit the score. I'm not sure if that connection should be there before the game ends or not.

Be that as it may, you can only submit a score once the game has ended (even if you lost)

Alot of people though connected to the internet are not getting the " Submit " page....I have not seen this officially addressed as of yet.

Caracatus--

I've seen the phenomenon you mentioned only once. And I have no idea why this happens from time to time like that. But since usually I can reload an autosave and then do it over again, I can at least get the score saved.

Now I have a question....please tell me there's something that prevents someone from spamming the Metaverse by loading a saved game, then submitting it, then reloading that saved game and submitting it again. Just so you know, I've not done this (you can look at my scores list...each one is unique), but is there a safe guard to prevent something like this from happening?

Having never posted to the Metaverse I could not in all honesty tell however I feel assured that there would be such measures in place.

You cannot spam the metaverse because each game has a unique ID generated for it at the very beginning. The metaverse only accepts one game with that ID from you.

I have submitted games that are well within the top 250 in score, using the lower score at the end of the game to the Multiverse, and I am still not comming up on the list. When I do a search it says I have zero games. I'm connected by a cable modem. What could I be doing wrong?

Well, one other possibility: are people running a firewall, and if so, does GalCiv have permission to access the network? One of the poorer choices is that there is no success/failure dialogue for a submission. If it works, it takes you to the front screen. If it fails, it takes you to the front screen.

Alabrent, don't forget to register with the Metaverse, using the same name as your submitted under. Click on "register your player" on the metaverse list.

Can we assume you're running at least 1.02 of GalCiv? Scores from 1.01 and 1.0 won't get counted.

My dearest frogboy, I have exactely the opposite problem. As long as I was running 1.0 all my scores were registered properly (have a look at my scores). Since I updated to 1.02 the scores don't get counted anymore...I just don't know what to do anymore :sniff!:

To answer the above questions, I am using version 1.02, I am using the name I'm regestered with, and the problem is not a firewall.

My overall score was 18628 with 1567 mpts and the final score sent to Metaverse with the prompt at the end off the game: 1959

Still no score...

I have the same problem. I've submitted 4 games, and none of them have shown up yet. I am registered and use the same alias and email account. I do not have a firewall.

I think you really need to have a success/failure message, and preferably the failure should have a reason, and give the player a chance to fix it and retry rather than just abort to the main screen.

Am I missing something or is there no account management screen/options at this site? I had to post the test message above just so I could have a way to see my own stats (and figure out what my own ID# was). It does show my scores on the accout info but it isn't showing up in the Metaverse. I just registered Wildbulldog today (4/25), does it take a while to show the scores? I'd like to change my nickname but with no link to an account management screen I'm not sure how to do it. Will I be forced to make a new account with a different email address just to change my nickname?

Ack! Scratch that part about not showing my scores. I found them under my Nick and not my Player Name. Now I really want to change my Nick...anyone know a way of doing it?

Well, I'm using 1.02 and am about to finish a game tonight. I will save right before and see if it goes up. If it doesn't I will try again.

Well my scores finally showed up after my 7th game... I still suck, but now I can record my scores. ;) I am having trouble with combat, but that's a point for another subject thread.
