Government Change--Subtle Bonus?

I was looking very closely at my economy during recent changes--I jumped from the second government type all the way to a Star Federation. Oddly, I saw very close to zero net increase in my income. Shouldn't that have given me a +40% increase to my economy stat (thus a moderate boost to my total percentage)? Could anyone give me a push in the correct direction on this issue?

:)

#1-Wait a turn
#2-If you are maxed on taxes (4xPQ) it won't help
#3-If your tax rate is high ... there might be changes to where the 'sweet spot' is for tax rate.
#4-If you have 7 maxed ECON resources, goind from +360% to +400% wont matter...

Economic bonuses from government types seem to be factored into your base tax income instead of added on top of other bonuses. In a game where I had well over +300% in economic bonuses from resources and technology, changing the government type had the following results:

Republic: +16.5% over Imperial
Democratic: +27.9% over Imperial
Federation: +36.4% over Imperial

Taxes are actually updated instantly, and the change in sweet spot was negligible. It might have been a couple of percentage points, but no more than that. In whatever manner the goverment bonuses work, it is most definitely not a simple +20/40/60% progression.

Thanks for the feedback guys--I think that I have been completely messing up economic stuff in my games. I thought that the economics attribute was meant to directly increase tax income (revenue). Today, I started doing some testing--it's nice to have a very light work week, hehe.

Anyway, I started several games and made sure to get the same quality level for my worlds. I used two versions of the same civ. One had +0 to econ, the other had +50 (30 from basic civ, 20 from the federalists). The tax revenue was exactly the same. So I'm figure that this is totally weak until I notice that the high econ civ can dish out a colony ship in 2 turns--the other guy takes 5 turns to do the same thing. Everything else was equal.

Is everyone else just saying "Duh" here? If that is the case, I feel silly. Otherwise, were a lot of people thinking of this the way I was?

Odd, eh?

I'm using 1.03, in case that matters for anything.

Odd, considering that the production bonuses don't seem to affect your production. Anyone want to run a test to see if they're reversed?

I guess I should've mentioned that the production increased in each government type in proportion to the tax increases...

Okay, my brain hurts now :)

Notes to self:
+ to morale actually means + to population
+ to starships actually means + to nothing
+ to economy actually means + to production
+ 100% from technology capital actually means + 10%
+ to production actually means god knows what

I think the + to starships does affect the ships built at that planet. I noticed some of my dreadnoughts in an earlier game had different stats from each other.

But what is the effect of + to economy? I always try to use it, going for the Federalist option, but if it doesn't do anything, I might as well not bother with it.

I know that some of the +starship bonuses work, but not all of them. I've seen times where two planets were pushing out dreadnoughts that, except for a 2 point bonus in defense, were identical, even though one planet had better than +100% starship bonuses over the other one (+57% from an event, the rest from social upgrades). Very confusing.

:p I have some problems with the different governmentforms too...

Version 1.0.2.49 (upgraded to the new one 1.03.53 but not played it yet)

Game: I am at war and my trade income got trashed...

Government: democratic =Expenses 1203bc Income: -349bc

Changing to Star Federation =Expenses 1203 Income: -435bc

Changing to imperalistic: = Expenses 1203 Income + 23 :notsure:

Some kind of bug or are there other game mecanics involved which update more slowly?

probably the loss of morale on the higher forms of government making people cheat their taxes
