Terror star movement bug in 1.03

I built a Terror Star in a large galaxy and was well on my way to a culture, military, or tech victory (I could take my pick). I decided to build a terror star with full culture influences and culture bomb the last race into submission. I saved the game and exited... after re-loading the game, the Terror Star has a movement speed of at least 10 instead of just 1. I zipped around the galaxy and smoked 'em.

I think this save game would be a perfect example of the end game bogging down a little. The opponent's military was gone, their finances were shot, and they really had no hope of recovery. Brad - you asked us to send save games for this scenario. Would you like this one?

was the terror star part of a fleet?

I experienced the same problem. I thought I had posted this in some other thread, but I can't find it anymore.

I'm not sure if loading the game caused it. I moved a TS to a square containing a fleet (NOT adding the TS to the fleet). Next thing I know is the TS has 6 moves. After moving the TS and the fleet for a couple of turns, always making them end on the same square, the fleet had vanished. I think it's the fleet and not the save/reload that's causing it.

I have a saved game with the "enhanced" TS. I'm not sure I still have one before it happened. Let me know if you need it.

Yes, actually it was part of a fleet. It was working normally (all ships in the fleet moving one square at a time) until I saved and reloaded. I'm not a fan of cheesy exploits, so I'll separate the TS from the fleet next time I go on a star killing rampage. :D

I've encountered the same problem in 1.0.2. It occurs when I have a fleet stacked with my Terror Star. I have a save game at home if you still need a copy of it.

There are several "features" associated with this.

I have 1 Terror Star and a fleet of dreadnoughts

If I click on the TS on the map then click on the TS in the lower right corner to select it directly, then movement in 1/1.

If I wait until the TS "naturally" (wait for it's turn), then it receives it's movement turn, then movement is 7/1. It may be that simply moving the fleet first gives the TS the move of 7/1.

When I tell my dreadnaughts to Guard the TS, they are carried along with the TS (maybe normal behavior), and use no movement points for the move (maybe reasonable / maybe not).

If I have an automove location selected for the TS with the DNs guarding, then they move to that location as well, but they leave the TS behind rather than sticking with it. I don't see a way to have them really guard the TS and still have auto movement for the TS.

Sometimes the DNs don't show up in the lower-right ship selector screen when I click on the TS (I've seen this in other situations not involving a TS). I can't reliably duplicate this situation.

With fleet of DNs guarding the TS. DNs had automove and moved because I had location selected for TS. I then I move the TS (7 movement points). When I moved the TS, the DNs disappeared from the map and reappeared with the TS and moved with it. That could be a cool trick. Attack with your fleet, use full movement, then teleport then back to the TS and get the hell out of there! But this probably is not the intended behavior.

Yes, I had seen the other thread reporting it as happening because of the fleet. I'm just not precisely sure what's causing it yet.

Yes I have seen this too a couple times. Near as I can tell, here is how to reproduce it:

- Build terror star (it has 1 movement)
- Take any ship and create a fleet with the terror star. Let's say the ship has movement 7.
- Click next turn.
- As you cycle through the ships with "Find", you will notice that it stops on *both* the terror star, and the ship inside it. This is in contrast to any normal fleet, where it only stops on the fleet as a whole. My guess is that the authors wanted it to be as if the ship was *inside* the terror star.
- When the "Find" stops on the ship in the terror star, move it. It will move without the terror star (this is again non-intuitive, since you just made it a fleet with the terror star on the last turn)
- Go back to the terror star, you will see its movement is now "7/1", and it can move 7 times. This effect appears to be permanent.
