Graphics keep getting better and bette.

Although the changes look more subtle, the main screen on build 5 shows more
pollish. Very nice.

Yep, very nice. It's a little "Planet of the apes" over it, but that's how they look. Anyway, I'm glad that at least one race has more than the name in common with the races from the OS/2 GalCiv :) All the other races have changed looks over time...

The Torian (yellow guy, The Yor (Robot), The Altarian (You have not seen him yet) and The drengin all look pretty much like the old races, the only one we completely changed was The Arcean.

Well, everything's relative :)
The only one that looks the same to me is the Drengin.

The old Torian for example, looked arrogant and dumb. The new version looks humble and more intelligent. Or am I the only one doing those kind of associations?

Anyway, compare them with the pic on this link: http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/zones/reviews/pc/galciv4.html

How come the new Torians looks pretty exact the same as the old Altarians? (When comparign the pic from GCGOLD, not the link I posted)

The new/current Yor looks more alike the GCGOLD Yor than the original GC Yor. That's why I thought they didnt looked the same, I compared with the oldest one..sorry for that. Bur apart from that, the drengin is the only one that looks alike because of the Torian/Altarian mixup.

I had some time over :) so I made a "Race evolution chart". It compares the images from the setup-screens in the different versions.

Perhaps it was some sort of confusion. Either that, or a very very very large ammount of evolution....

Cross-Breeding?

Nothing is etched in stone, we could always make the current Torians back into the Altarians. But I think Brad wanted it like that for a reason.

Who knows, I have never played any other version of GalCiv other than this one. (Unless I did and don't remember...)

It's good whatever you all pick.

As far as I know, the Altarians have always supposed to look like humans. Part of the story is that when the Altarians first contacted the Humans, they thought that we were a lost colony of theirs...are you thinking of the Torians and the Arceans, whose colors have been switched?

When I was visiting Stardock on my trip Cari showed me some of the graphics
for the trade "speak to" window. I thought they were awesome. What I didn't
reallise was that they had been available to us since 5/23 (about a week after I
left on the trip). When I returned home and downloaded the latest build I find
this guy looking left and right waiting for me to conduct a trade.

And all of the planet graphics are changed too.

It just keeps getting prettier and prettier.

Cheers,
jack
