So far not finished a game, due to crashes

Yet, another game has crashed irrecoverably. I'd like to play, but cannot finish a game. If I reload the last save, it is corrupted and won't play - crashed to desktop.

Anyone else with this problem?

I do have a save game I can send in, if it helps.

The game is very stable normally, so your crashes to desktop are strange. First suggestion would be to reinstall from the CD into a new clean directory. Something may have been corrupt from the initial install. You could try sending your saved game to stardock. Just zip the game folder and the .sav file.

I have this problem too! It is really frustrating.

The game crashed about every 20 minutes while I was trying to play yesterday. Sometimes to the desktop, sometimes rebooting. Some of my save games are also corrupt, although they seem to be the autosave ones. I asked to restore my last civ and it rebooted, then I loaded a game by selecting it myself and it worked better. I get other load corruptions too... sometimes the interface comes up and it is mostly blank, then crashs as soon as I click something. I have DirectX 9.0 from MS site and the latest NVidia drivers from NVidia.

I have just updated to 1.0.1A to see if this helps.

I think it's sound related. For now, turn off the music and sound effects and see if that helps.

We should have a fix for this later today. SOund cards with only 4 playback buffers (like the SB Live) has a problem with our sound system since we tend to push a lot of sound channels.

I've had this CTD trouble too. Two days ago the game crashed to the desktop 5 or 6 times while playing. Yesterday I played for 2 or 3 hours and not one crash.

I have an nVidia motherboard with the onboard sound.
