Colonization

The first time I tried to colonize a planet, one in the same galaxy as Earth, everything was fine. The next two times, I failed. I think you may have changed out this works because after trying a time or two one of these ships finally did evoke the colonize screen. Is it GalCiv or is it me?

It is possible that you sent the ship into orbit. Do you see a little ship down below all the planets that may represent the colony ship. Double click on it to send it back into outerspace. Just my guess, as I did this a couple of times before I figured it out.

In order to colonize a planet you point a colony ship at the starsystem where the planet you want to colonize is. Then when the ship reaches that system it will bring the solar system sub map up on the right hand side. Then highlighting the planet will show a bit of text (I forget exactly what at the moment) asking if you want to colonize that planet.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible you weren't using Colony Ships? Any other ship won't work.

I used colony ships an the ships didn't go into orbit and I didn't get the text you mention every time.

Zeitqeis,
you are using the latest alpha version? The earlier version would skip the colonisation if an event also occurred. You would then have to manually locate your colony ship and click it back to the planet.

were you doing something else on the same turn like colonizing a different planet only the ships might have gone in orbit and then out again. this has happened to me before.
