Whenever you investigate an anomaly and there's nothing in it this s**t for brains comes up to tell you this was a waste of time. Like I didn't know that.

Don't you think shooting would be redundant? If you take him outside of the ship, he'll die anyway. :D

turn off the announcements for anomalies checkbox in the area where you can save games.

Gotta go with you on this one, Za01phod. He's second only to the GNN reporter who tells you an AI has declared war on you the turn after it starts attacking your ships. I mean, "thanks for the timely advice!" ;)

LOL...

Everyone has to have that research assistant. It's in the Big Book of Rules. Tell the truth, isn't there a guy like that at your work? :)

But as was suggested by someone else, you may want to just turn off the anomaly popup. :)

There is another possibility for improving this one ... there are a variety of possible texts available for use in various other parts of the game, so possibly Stardock could add alternative text for this and other anomalies (and Galactic Resources would be nice, too.) This'd mean you don't always get the same research assistant.

For examples:
1) The survey team spent a long time studying the (gas cloud). Eventually, they give up.

"Although there was something special here," the head of the chemistry lab reported, "we couldn't work out what it was. Quite frankly, it is beyond us at our current level of research. There's a lot we still don't know about science."

1a) "This one goes into the too hard basket."

1b) "What do you think we are, miracle workers? We don't know everything!"

2) "There was nothing to see here," the ship's captain reported, waving a hand vaguely. "We decided to move along."

3) After a brief investigation, the survey team conclude that all oddities here may be explained using existing theories.

3a) "There is nothing new here."

If you look in the library there is a mod to replace the dude with a more pleasant assistant... at least on the eyes. Make a few more sets if it bother you that much.
