Captain Jack Sparrow Captain Jack Sparrow

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Taxes paid. Got my first tech win and my tenth game submitted. Four evil wins in the bag. Time to try for evil win number five.

Super Gerakken has arrived. 332% better than my 553 points of before! Remember that old game of mine that became unloadable? Well, the new version revived it. And I finished it, finally. Evil win #5 in the bag. So, for exceptional services to GROSS as morale officer, extra effort as part time engineer, being a gunner a deadly aim, and for evil merit points, I ask for consideration to be on the GROSS Senate.

After: "ARR! Ye let yer guard down. The Battle of the South Seas will be ours. Beer, mateys! Me be raiding yer beer now! And after I drink me fill, on to Europe!"...I have so many pins in my eyes that I can't actually play Galciv at the moment.

Well done Pontius...you were right on every single point about updating to later versions and integrity and dignity and wholesome rightnous. I'm the Suzie of Galciv and you're the Misty Hymen. *Sigh*: that silver medal sparkles doesn't it (he reaches pathetically towards it, but then turns and shuffles away...). (:(

Avast ye land lubbin snakes! I do enjoy the new colors.

In my last gigantic game, I found 6 military resources
in my area. Decided to try to fight my way to victory.

Two races surrendered early, one to me and one to the
dregin.

I did a ton of trading with the acreans and they were
just huge, as big as me and I had a good 40%.

The alterians were small, but declared war on me early
when they couldnt even reach me, lost a few scouts.

The dregins had most of the remianing 20 percent and
they loathed me, kept giving them money while
waiting for my dreadnoughts and resources to be ready.

Finally after making peace with the alterians they all
allied up and some years later they declared war.

It was brutal, massively upgraded dreadnoughts do not
hold their own verse large number of overlords.
I did find a few military resources of theirs and
destroyed them early, but even so. Anyway, i did
manage to culturally convert a few dregin planets
before war started and they were producing
excaliburs(thank god the ai couldnt win by tech in
this game, gesh i wasnt even close to excaliburs)
but it let me buy about 5 of them early in the wars.

5 excaliburs with 600 offense and 150 defense pretty
much go through overlords like popcorn in a movie
thearte. I had upgraded most of my important resource
starbases with full defense(+64 defense) and
massive of dreadnoughts died upon them. Of the 10
or so starbases I did this to, about 3 fell to
some overlords, but i killed about 10 of their starbases
and sent my constructors(btw hundreds of constructors
died in route from all 4 of us)

I was concentrating mostly on the dregin who after
losing 2 influence resources in combat were being
converted by my preexisting conversion strategy.

After wiping out most of their fleet, they sued for
peace while conceeding all but 4 of their planets.

The alterians how were facing the same problem of
conversion conceded all but 1 of their planets

The acrean were still strong and I didnt make peace
with them that turn. The alliance still stood
and both the others declared war again. Odd thing is
they again instantly allowed me to sue for peace again
and this time dropped the dregin to 1 system.

The alterians also lost some infuence sectors and
were starting to be converted(a few ground combat
conquests were going on, but most of the fighting was
over resource spots and wiping out fleets)

It was long, but eventually the acreans started giving
up systems for peace and once that starts its a very
fast death. In fact once that started it was very
easy to just declare war, take 1-3 systems and repeat
ad nausuem until they had 1 system left. The first
few repeats of this I acomplished in the same turn
but after awhile they grew leary and I had to wipe
out their fleet again and wait a turn.

Very long game for me, took at least 12 hours. Learned
quite abit about fighting though that will come in
handy.

Thanks. I had to be made Senator to get some bodyguards to protect me from all the assassin sheep. ;)

I'll get to really give the new version a test drive a bit later in the day, now that I have finished the old games. From what the seasoned hands have been saying, it will be time to reexamine some old strategies. But the scores are more generous. I think I will play it safe and stick to challenging. I was up to tough on 1.03A, but why take chances the first time out when things have been changed.

I'm working on a painful game right now Staffa. Lots of combat, and slow. Would take about a week to finish. So I'm just gonna work on it one step at a time when all I have is an hour or so. Meanwhile, I'm working on another game that will score more quickly. Glad to see ya got some fightin action in there staffa. It takes longer, but it sure is fun. hehe.

Arrgh matey HG we sure do. Twas a long battle. And in the end when we boarded, the Crew had abandoned the Cargo and ship. The flag is now ours. And a suiting flag it is.

Couldn't have G.R.O.S.S. have the flag of the alexians too long now could we? But we still run that one up from time to time. Then surprise em with skull here.

How long does it take a score to post after you submit it? I posted one about 4 hours ago and it's still not listed

Good grief. I started to read the post by "I can win in my sleep" Staffa thinking, hallaleujah, he finally lost one, and 10 minutes later realised nup, another 7,000 or so points for G.R.O.S.S.

ANZACs may be sheep in wolves clothing, but even we can't compete with the scoring machines of Staffa and Pontius. :notsure:

The problem is that some folks thought GROSS was a ship of fools. That was a mistake. Some of us act like fools, but we are, as a group, crafty players. Underestimating GROSS is like losing half the war already.

Now, if you want sneaky, watch out for those Canadians. They are discreetly slipping back up through the ranks again, silent and lurking in the shadows. And don't anyone let their guard down around MWC. Who knows what fiendish plots they are hatching in their secret internet clubhouse. They have proved that they have spunk even after the War of the Bloody Corn Rows has been well over.

Anyway, GROSSers, the Euros are going to be a tough nut to crack, but they are a only a hair away from the top score-wise. If we can crack them, #1 is almost certainly in the bag. But beware of the strong numerical advantage that the top two empires have.

Hi fellas, I ran across an anomoly (not the kind you pick up with a survey ship ;) - I was playing and did a successful colony rush - I had an easy 50% of the starting planets. I was on level with everyone else militarily and was outproducing and out researching them. Suddenly, the Deringin (sp?) shot off the charts. I went to trade with them and they suddenly had some VERY advanced techs - Dreadnaughts and Terracomputers and I was just researching battleships. I got lucky and converted one of their worlds in one of my sectors. It was a mediocre class 18 (but with a whopping 14 billion people!) It was producing 600! research shields (my BEST planet, a class 24, with all the research upgrades and research uniques was producing about half that). To put it in perspective, it had 26 military shields and 42 social shields.
Anyone offer a clue here? Is this legitimate or maybe a bug?
I took a screen print.

Exarch (going back to his bottle of rum...)

I won that game - I allied up with everyone against them before they could start putting the hurt on me. Got an allied victory out of the game. It was weird, they had three planets, and each one was outproducing (research wise) my best research planet by several hundred shields.

I see we're currently ranked number three - gonna be tough to move up to the number one or two slot if the score is more based on quantity now as each has more than double our number. I guess we'll just have to play twice as much ;)

We'll see if Pontius is a scoring machine or got one lucky game in. Normally I win all the time, but don't score well.

Congrats everyone on breaking 40k.

Anyway, I'm just about past dreads and the fringes of the Altarians and Yor are showing those nice skull's and crossbones. This one is ours baring an unforseen event. Should finish sometime tomorrow.

And before I put my snappy sheep routine to bed, I can't get stop singing 'I've got snappy sheep' to the tune: "I've got happy feet". Do I need help? Has the CariElf Fan Club gambit tipped me over the edge, or was it the Pirate routine mateys. Arr!
Well, Chris, I usually consider myself destabilizing enough single handedly, but add Pontius and the CariElf thread and all that together can drive most sane, rational people into confusion and mental anguish. All the better for GROSS. Our members are pretty immune enough already to the usual foolishness going on around here. So they should whether through the added silliness just fine. The rest of you just suffer, and so do your scores! Muwahahaha! :D

"You may see some VERY patient, specially trained snappy sheep just innocently 'hanging about'."

Are you aware that those are Boomerang Sheep? If you use them, they´ll come back, and bite you! Don´t even think about it. :)

Golden words, Gerakken. Congrats to your promotion!

I have taken a holiday from Galciv to try out Sc4. For all that may be interested: It rocks! Unlike Sc3000, which I found boring and unbalanced (just build all those Parks and Marinas!), Sc4 pushes the envelope.

With my first city, all seemed to go well at first. I got to a population of ~9000, with a few hundreds/month surplus and over 80000 still in the bank, then I made my mistake: Raised a prohibitive tax on dirty industries to drive them out of town and move up to manufacturing. I thought! The dirty industries went away, indeed, but no manufacturing moved in, and the population plummeted. :SURPRISED: Turned out the people were to silly for manufacturing jobs. LOL I should have raised education first. Anyways, I went into deficit, and my reserves took a nosedive. Before you hit bottom, and go bankrupt, they offer you a few dubious deals, however: I had no option but to accept an army base and a high sec prison in my city. I reinvited the dirty industries, and am now doing well again. But raising the Education of my incredibly stupid citizens will be a long-term project, so much for sure! :)
