G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

"Coffee: About time you showed up again. I guess the self-labeled laziest senator of the empire is alive still. Glad to see you around. Come by more often."

Thanks. :) It´s good to see you all do so well, and our lead steadily expanding. Soon the territory owned by the Alliance -who so foolishly doubted our capacity to eclipse them!- will be limited to the immediate surroundings of their bunker.

Which means we will know WHERE THEIR SECRET BUNKER IS, and then it´s time for the bunker buster!! :D

Time to go down the list for the evening lowdown:

svalin: I haven't seen you around in a bit. Go ahead and recharge those batteries if you need to. But feel free to stop by and visit any time.

Cypherpax: I never noticed if it ever went up for adding modules, but I do know you get charged 5 BC per month when you build the base.

I just posted a 4500 point mini bomb. Trying to work my way into the top 50. Wish me luck!

Don't worry, jus4golf, I think you are going to make it. Just keep doing what you are doing, and good luck while doing it.

idleprocess: Greetings, respect rival. Threadzilla does indeed grow larger. It must eat to survive! I see you MWC folks are finding out the joys of battling the Euros. It is getting a little messy down in the 2-4 slots. We'll be waiting for you. :)

Coffee: I want that bunker intact!!! That is where they got the good booze. We can destroy it AFTER we loot it.

Shakaar: Way to go, Shakaar! I can't even play maso. Tough is my upper limit. You're becoming quite a force to be reckoned with. Keep it up.

Snoring softly, Gerakken fails to hear the footsteps of tiny, woolly feet outside his bedroom: "Err...umm...hey - wha..NOOOO[BaaaBLAM!!!]

Ha! Got you, you swine. It took me long enough to develop that recombinant DNA vector to dampen out the premature explosion virus, especially with one hand blown off....

I finally finished the huge galaxy - don't like culture. I had 2.5 trillion pop, but I couldn't close it out. I got bored and crushed the remaining Torians and Altarians. I did show some restraint and only used the terror star on the Torian homeworld.

In the future, I think it faster military conquest for me. I'd like to have a tech victory, just to see the rest of the tech tree, but I doubt I'll have the patience.

Happy Raiding,
Cypher

Darn terrorist sheep... Just one of the risks of my position. Sometimes it seems nice if I could go back to a day with no bodyguards, body doubles, and not being paranoid of everything with four legs and a white coat. Heck, those ANZACs have even sent those numbered dream sheep over to get me as I slept. Too bad I got suspicious when I noticed that the numbers on them were going backwards as they jumped over the fence! :p

CypherPax, take the win any way you can. You are obviously better at the military rush than I am. My style is to crush them with culture. My military wins are actually games with culture victory turned off! Tech does take a while, but some of the other good players say that wars actually take longer than culture or tech on the larger maps. They must be real efficient when it comes to managing their turns. I have this bad habit of looking around too much and seeing if I need to fiddle with anything.

We have learned a lot from Saddam. All you´ll ever get (if you get anybody at all) is a few of our Dopplegangers. :)

I'm sick of these darn exploding sheep in the tap room. I'm drinking Fosters until they go away. That way I won't care when by beer gets blow off the counter... :p

I figured it out...now if I could just get the metaverse submission to work right!
A hardy welcome to you, RXDOC. What seems to be your Metaverse problem? It seems like the game you submitted today went through. The score for the version 1.05 game is lower than it should be for what map size and difficulty you were playing, though. You do got version 1.05.071 and not .069 or .070, right?

Well a lot seems to how while I have been out. I have been knock out of the top 100. After this upcoming weekend I will need step up my efforts for the empire. I should be able to post other game night or Thursday.

Sorry to hear that Staffa is retiring. I have always enjoy hear about the strategics used.

I would like to be consider as senator. I believe I met the criteria. Let me know

The GROSS military staff gather around at their daily strategy meeting and booze up.....their legendary champion Staffa sits quietly at the end of the table.

Gerakken: "Welcome everyone, and a very special welcome to Staffa who rejoins us to once again contribute to GROSS greatness. And I must say the new hairstyle is very becoming."

Cypherpax: "Yeah Staffa, what made you choose white hair, anyway?"

Coffeedragon: Leaning over towards Staffa, he notices something unusual..."Wait, this isn't hair....it's WOOL...everybody DUCK[BaaaaBLAM!!!!!]

Hehehehehe.......

The boss said nothing about the old deal being off, so I am fine with it. Congratulations, Senator! But understand that this is a field promotion right now. The boss has the final say when he comes back from vacation.

And, now we must tighten our security again! Exploding sheep just keep popping up everywhere. These ANZACs can sure play dirty when they are being owned. :)

Alright, another new day. Not much happening right now in my galaxy. Just got through of a minor war with the Yor. I am still pretty early in the game and didn't have any transports built yet. (I got the tech, just haven't started building my usual fleet of 10 or more to handle any mid-game wars until I can get battle transports.) So no planets were gained or lost. Just some rampant ship killing and them asking for a treaty and me asking for a little cash for my trouble. Hey, combat pay is expensive. Got to treat those ship crews right.

Hey GROSSers.

Finally got to try ver 1.05. First try: painful. Got my butt kicked real hard; Arceans were zipping aroung in 8 speed battleships while i had BCs. Second: Tough, using +2 speed pick. It kicks butt! I completely dominated the galaxy. But metaverse submission doesn't work now :( Oh well. Anyway progress on the Galactic Guide is coming along; that's how i spend my GalCiv time mostly nowadays. See the thread.

Speed can be a great advantage all throughout the game. As an alternative to the spendiness of +2 speed, I usually build Grav Accels fast. Sure, that doesn't help me in the initial rush, but it frees up a lot of points for other things in my personal play style arsenal, like +morale and +econ.

Besides, my use for speed is far more sinister than getting to yellow stars first. I don't war much, but when I do, I use merciless hit-and-run tactics where superior speed and Eyes of the Universe gets my attackers in, destroys the important targets, and gets them out. Sometimes a ship has to be deliberately overextended and left vulnerable, yes, but my main goal is conservation of force.

Well, it is about time for me to call it a night.

It's another day for Gerakken, your ring master pro tem of this circus called GROSS. :D So, crew and visitors alike, don't be strangers.

Here's a question for the team. I'm playing a tough medium galaxy as a particularly bad actor - even the Drendin and the Yor can't stand me. (Though I just eliminated the Drendin).

Now the remaining majors are the Yorian Slugs, the Altarian Boy Scouts, and the Yor. (Of course, the Yor are doing nothing and pose no threat with their 2 star systems.)

Here's the problem, the Space Slugs and the do-gooders are in an alliance. The Yorians have a signficant military advantage though in our last war, I took four of their star systems and a resource before sueing for peace. (I don't think the strenght rankings take my bonuses into account.) The Altarians are about even, both are hostile. The Drendins decided to surrender to the Altarians so they have a planet I need to take because it is on my flanks and I positioned to do it within 2 turns.

I have the remainder of the Altarians to by north west and the entire Torian empire to my east, so I can't procecute a war without leaving my flanks exposed. By first instinct is to try to eliminate the Altarians threat. Is this the right course, or should I try a two front war? How soon should I launch it? Waiting might be to my advantage, but I don't want to let the Altarians get a serious foothold on the 3 planet system they got from the Drendins.

Any help is appreciated...

Bide your time, Cypherpax. Let the weaker Altarian empire think it is safe for the moment. Build a transport fleet more than strong enough to take out all of the Altarian systems in a nearly simultaneous strike. Escort them with a fair portion of your attack ships to not only destroy the orbiting defenders, but also to ward off a turn or two of attacks in case you cannot take all the planets at the same time. (Volleys of AAMs are nice to use for defender killers. Means you need fewer warships.) You want this to be brutal, total, and very quick once you start, or else the Altarians may surrender themselves. If they surrender to the Torians, you would have a messier situation. If done right, this ends one front of the war quickly.

Meanwhile, the rest of your attack navy should be positioning themselves on key routes from Torian space to fight a delaying action by intercepting Altarian ships inbound to attack you while you take care of the weaklings. Once the Altarians are finished, turn the remainder of the troop transports left from the blitzkrieg and their escorts to the other front. Reinforce them along the way with more transports and attackers to get a rolling start on the offensive war against the bigger empire. Now you just have one war against one enemy instead of The Great Galactic War.

That's exactly what I would say. :)

Played another game with +2 speed; this is just so unbalancing, I've got some 9 planets to everyone else's 3. Looks like I will dominate again without firing a shot. I may drop to +1 speed since this is too easy (and boring). Unfortunately since 1.05 i can no long submit games, i dunno why. I have a 8500 point bomb ready to submit, too. Oh well. In other news the Strategy Guide goes well. We may incorporate it into the regular GalCiv manual.

The link is here for the curious.

I see the darn Aussie counterintel unit thinks they caught Pix of the top secret frog I was going to implant to ruin their entire ecosystem a-la the simpsons. Won't help em though. The real frog's already breeding millions of em. And they thought I was just on vacation. Bwahahahahaha!!! All those frogs, eating all the aussie crops now. Except the barley of course. We wan't them to be able to produce more beer for us to plunder.

Amazing. They thought it was Frogboy, then they thought they had our top secret breeder. When all they had was a puppet!!!

Threadzilla's over 900. Wooohooo.

Boy. I really did a number on the Waltzing Mathilda Garbage Scow and the rest of the rag tag aussie fleet from the missile room before I left. They can't get their engines refired can they?
