G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Just because MWC seems to mean Middle Weight Champion these days, judging on how they have settled down to #5, doesn't mean we can count them out. Don't underestimate them.

Me thinks they were gonna submit en-masse on the 4th and claim America's empire status. Which conflicts with there new "oh yeah were the midwesterners world party group hug empire" theme. Too bad the Canadians beat em to it on Canada day and now everyone will be "seen that ho hum. Get a new idea losers."

I think they are also struggling with an alignment empire. Seems the "Good wholesome empire" is just absolutely trying to justify evil in its midst but just cannot.
We make no bones about it here. Evil is allowed. Therefore, we are evil. And that would be true no matter how many good scores or neutral scores we had.
Though obviously, Good and Neutral are accepted domination strategies here, we allow evil, and therefore are evil.

But we're bigger than heavyweight, we're GROSS, a weight class all our own. Everyone wants a piece of us and we cannot disappoint them, can we? We got a Canadian ghost ship and a European Armada to hold at bay.

The MWC's latest pathetic attempt at grandeur is to try and convince the Republic to merge with them. LMAO how pathetic. I think the Republic would be wise to stay in theme. At least they are having fun.

To hell with the MWC...i'd rather be a part of a winning empire. I do not play an evil strategy, per say, but I like what i've heard from Pontius and about G.R.O.S.S. and I hope that I will be welcome here.

Welcome aboard Darth. Welcome aboard The D. You don't have to play evil here D. You'll find there is only 1 rule here.
Rule 1. We aint got no stinking rules. Would you expect anything else from a roving band of briggands???

Senate is an honorary title here. No elections, no campaigning, no pablam, Everyone has a say. We don't have a website and don't plan to get one. We tend to support the Galciv community right here rather than run and hide and post secret strategies. Besides, It's much more painful for them to see our strategy in print and not be able to do a thing about our domination.

You're free to enter and leave the Survey ship of doom as you wish. Once you're G.R.O.S.S. you're always G.R.O.S.S. That won't change no matter what empire you may go to or not go to. We'll wish ya well.

Darth, The Empire, puny as it is, has seen fit to declare war on us thanks to the pontius one yanking someone's chain too hard. HEHE. That is the only "official" war I've seen" I think it will remain untill they decide to quit.

The MWC, though never officially declaring war, certainly hates us because we own em. HEHE.

We have good relations with Anzacs despite their quirky assassination attempts. Watch out for sheep, bananna's and drop bears. We have good relations with the white council, though some junior members seem to want to go to war.

The Canadians, Apolyton, and Euro's are never around the board to know what they think. But we did raid the Canadian's beer supply on Canada day so....they may not like us too much.

And that just about sums it up. But when you're #1, everyone is out to get you. HEHE. And so it is....

Again. Welcome aboard you two.

99th place!!! Yeeeeeehaaaaa!!! Time for a brewsky! :D

What's this?!?! Outta beer! :sniff!: Well y'all know what time it is then - BEER RUN!!! :d

Congrats on breaking into the top 100, KitWarrior... just did it myself last week. Looks like us G.R.O.S.S.ers are making a name for ourselves - instead of letting our esteemed leaders carry the load.

Oh, and Pontius? I've followed through with those orders and swiftly eliminated all foes in a Medium-sized sector... thus making my contribution to the manifest destiny of G.R.O.S.S. as ordered. (It was soooooo much more enjoyable than latrine duty, anyway.)

Now - to see if I can sneak in a game or two on the 4th. Hehehehe. ("What's that, dear? We're going to your family's for the holiday? Nooooooo!")

Check the hold kit. Plenty in there. Aussie beer, Midwestern Beer, Euro Beer, Wines and all the libations you can drink.
As to beer runs, we're always on a beer run.

Watched the Giants beat the Cardinals. Hard luck Cards this year. Starting Pitcher threw well for most of the game and was still behind 2-0 when they pulled him. Just made one mistake to bonds and it went bye bye. Pen gave up two more, and another Bonds homer. Cards scored a run and It ended 4-1. Boom Boom Bonds Man that guy's a monster. Fun stuff. I just have to get out to pacbell and see a splash hit in person.

I accidently banged my keyboard wrong during the game... How I randomly not paying attention smacked down on it just right to hit control, alt, and delete at the same time (twice) I'll never know. OOOPS scratch the last 25 turns I just played..... Uggh. Oh well. No biggie.
Wow!!! 370k. We're doing gr8 G.R.O.S.S.ers. Pour it on!!! Show that Republic who the boss is... You guys that's who..!!!

As I have relatives in starting tomorrow Happy Independence Day everyone.

OOOOO the evil in-laws.... Oh my.!!! Had I known I may have made you walk the plank in pity. It would have been a far more merciful fate. My in-laws are coming here. I hope I survive. If not, Gerrakin and EB can take care of things.

Two bottles down. ;p It's time for a sing-a-long...

Come all ye young fellows that follow the stars,
to our way haye, blow the man down,
And pray pay attention and listen to Pontius,
Give him some time to blow the man down.

I'm an outer space sailor just in from Blacksburg,
to our way haye, blow the man down,
if you'll give us some grog, we'll sing you a song,
Give us some time to blow the man down.

'Twas on the ship Doom we first served our time,
to our way haye, blow the man down,
And on that survey ship we wasted our prime,
Give us some time to blow the man down.

'Tis when a G.R.O.S.S.er's preparing for space
to our way haye, blow the man down,
You'd split your sides laughing at the sights that you see.
Give us some time to blow the man down.

With the tinkers and tailors and soldiers and all
to our way haye, blow the man down,
That ship for prime spaceman on board the ship Doom.
Give us some time to blow the man down.

'Tis when the ship Doom is clear of the land,
to our way haye, blow the man down,
Our Pontius then gives us the word of command
Give him some time to blow the man down.

"Lay aft," is his cry,"to the break of the Poop!
to our way haye, blow the man down,
Or I'll help you along with the toe of my boot!"
Give him some time to blow the man down.

'Tis larboard and starboard on the deck you will sprawl,
to our way haye, blow the man down,
For PontiusBruinPilot commands the ship Doom.
Give him some time to blow the man down.

Pay attention to order, now you one and all,
to our way haye, blow the man down,
For right there above you flies Jolly Roger.
Give us some time to blow the man down.

Yep, that's the way to do it. But it is too bad that it takes me at least two drinks just to get loose enough to start some serious playing. Speaking of serious playing, I got the visiting house guest conspiracy. I will still have some forum time, but that precious gaming time I was looking forward to will be compromised quite a bit.

Awww That's ok. Just use your forum distraction technique whilst I double my gaming efforts. EB is using a quickie technique He and I worked out. It really works for him. He's crankin.

Please share the technique. I am trying to break into the top 10 this weekend. I finally broke the top 25 again. I am starting my next raiding party tonight.

He plays small maps...I think one setting below normal and sometimes normal. He switches his productin 100% into whatever he needs at the time, Ships during the rush, social when he needs to build wonders, research to get a tech lead. You'd have to ask him on that one.
All the while he bankrupts the little civs by selling em tech and trade goods (so they cannot build wonders out from under him (that was my small contribution) Also, when he Gets his trade going. He puts it all into one sector, in a straight line so he can easily know where to build trade boosting starbases. (another of my suggestions) Now he usually gets through alot of the tech tree, not all. Then he just culture flips the whole dang thing and he's done. I don't know how he plays so fast myself. He's a machine.

That style requires that you get tons of games in, however, so if you don't have as much time, it's best to just work on higher scoring, although lower submission rate games.

And you're not doing too bad yourself there B.S. LMAO oops uh Black Smoke. I'd say keep up the good work.
I know that I've used a similar strategy to what Pontius is mentioning. Usually in a small to medium galaxy, with 2-3 civs set on normal, 2 on sub-normal intelligence. I then build up my technology quickly, setting my spending on 50/50 military/research. Finding a minor race makes this even easier usually, as they will buy your tech almost all the time. Set up contracts for 500bc for 10 months or whatever you can get out of em. I've found it better to set up the long term contracts, rather than the lump sum payments, as it gets the alien civilization further into debt. Repeat this with the other alien races, while researching towards battleship technology. Once I reach battleship tech, I usually have 20-40,000bc and enough people to launch an all out assault on all alien civs. Take a few planets from one, and if they have multiple, try to bargain a peace treaty in exchange for a planet. Usually they'll do this at least once, especially because you have bankrupt them to the point where they have little to no military and no money to build one. I can usually finish one of these games in 1-2 hours, getting from 5000-7000 points for the metaverse. This has been my strategy so far, unfortunately work and school have prohibited me from playing nearly as much as I would like to. Just thought I'd share my strategies, even though it looks like many of the people in this empire are far better than I am and probably won't need it.

Congrats to Kit on breaking the top 25 on the evil board.

That gets us
1,2,3,9,11,21,and 25 on that board. 7 of the top 25 on that board. DOM IN NATION

Neutral we are doing ok at 1,13.

Good. Well, we're getting B*slapped on that board but oh well, Pontius better submit a good game soon. and put the skull and crossbones up again. hehe.

Overall G.R.O.S.S
1,3,4,20 4 members top 25.

Wow you guys are cranking. We have 50k points since the war declaration by the republic, they have about 6k, but keep plugging. The canadians are looming.

Blacksmoke: I'd say whatever you've been doing got you this far, keep it up. Different techniques work for different people and what I like about this metaverse is there is more than one way to skin the Drengin.
One caveat to the strategy mentioned above. If you bankrupt every civilization on the map such that they are not spending money on tech, Do not. I repeat do not let your tech spending fall to zero. Keep it at at lest 5% or so to be save. Your game will crash if everyone's tech spending (including yours) falls to zero. (eb found a bug)

And see we have 4 different types of players at the top.
Staffa's the Can whip it on Maso and score big type.
I'm the middle type player that can score more points than most on painful and drop those 19k power bombs at that level and hang in there type.
EB's a Lower difficulty, lower score but higher volume player. Black smoke is doing it with Lower difficulty and lower volume, but scoring high for his difficulty type. # of different ways to skin the Drengin right there.
