Captain Jack Sparrow Captain Jack Sparrow

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Pontius: that's a great backstory! That is exactly the way it happened! Although, since you did ask for comment, I think maybe you downplayed the ANZACs just a little, and the titanic battle with them that GROSS almost lost before Gerakken pulled out all those games. Still, on the whole its perfect. LOL

CypherPax: that has to be the darkest story I have ever read. I still can't get that image out of my mind of the poor Altarians hugging each other in joy when they think they are going to be freed. :sniff!:

I didn't forget. What you are mentioning is part of the story. That is only the backstory.

Enjoy the game Pontius. I have been playing around with different ideas. I can't find the pointer to the score calculation (it was in a forum if I remeber). What I vaguely remeber is that speed of conclusion if pretty important. Now, my style is very non-aggresive with military. That is I achieve military conquest but by using cultural assimilation. (The MacDonalds approach). But, on gigantic this takes a long time from mid-game to finally last alien star system converted to the way of truth and justice! I suspect that if I wasn't military averse I would finish games much sooner and, as such, drive my scores up. I usually max research way before the end.

Thoughts?

Actually Hurls: no. The quicker one finishes a game, the lower the score. The engine adds up planetary improvements, population and military, and research undertaken. However, there is a quirk in how it scores for population: you get the difference each month between your pop and the galaxy's pop. So if you have 80% of the total galaxy pop, you only get 20% of the score for pop. This negates the building up pop tactic at the very end of the game. Hope this makes sense. At the end of the game I get bigger scores by building missiles for a year or so to get a higher score for military (although it can slow down the game).

Interesting! So when I get late, stop moving sliders for research, no value there. Build lots of killing machines!

Ta! :)

A Family Life

Little Astoraxix run around the house screaming and shouting as little drengins do. He was an adorable little boy. His sister, Liblitax, was playing with her Toria doll. She looked so sweet.

Astoraxix's wildly swinging hands soon knocked a priceless vase from the pedestal.

Astoraxix's mother, came into the room, wiping her flour stained hands on her apron. She had had a hard life raising her two nippers after their father, a budding poet, had been killed in action in the last war. There had been rumours of what had happened to him after his death, but she couldn't face that memory.

"What have you done Astoraxix?" she cried. Then her glance fell on the vase, a wedding gift from her late husband. "Why, you little oaf! Now go to bed at once. If you don't the Pirate men will get you."

Astoraxix and his sister hutled into their beds. They were kept well in line by stories of the creatures of the night and what they did to little children.

Hurls, you demon. I need a good editor. I'll try again.

Keep researching up to Final Frontier. Don't neglect military even if you don't need it: build things with big points. Build all wonders. Towards end game, build up improvements, even if they soak up maintenance. To keep final enemy planet from flipping, build a culture palace in their sector and gift/sell to that civ.

Congrats on the 100,000 PontiusBruinPilot and EBZeroMatrix.

For what it is worth, it looks like I squeezed GROSS back in to first place by 1000 points, but it probably won't last long.

May your edge stay sharp and your ship never sink,

Yeah Stealth!!!

Hurley. Finishing up too fast costs you points.

General. Get all the wonders trade goods and special thingies (like political capital first) you can

I would only do that if I had to to get through the tech tree Killa.

Pop score increases on the factor of is pop/%of galaxy pop *n IE increasing pop late when you own most of the galaxy gets you not much. Increasing yours and alien pop (by selling or giving all pop and morale booster trade goods and some techs) early actually gets you more points.

Cool...heh, the weekend awaits, and soon the torrential storming of my games will hopefully put me in first place. (...the ultimate test of the 'master's' skills)
