Stupid Torians....

Ihave a game I have saved where it is me, The Torians and the light blue guys are allies. I am giving the green guys more trade than the light blue guys, I am second military wise....but they always end up in a war with me and kill me no matter what, Ideas?
I have very high diplomacy and have antimatter misssiles but even they don't hold him off for ever!

Are you evil? The Torians and Altarians tend to be good, and thus are a real problem for evil humans when they ally (and they tend to ally most every game at Normal difficulty and higher from what I've seen). You can't really do a 'live and let live' with them because you just don't have enough trade to keep both happy, and whoever isn't happy is going to declare war and bring their partner with them the next turn. In this situation you need to be decisive in going for a victory: military, tech, or culture.

From your post you aren't going military probably, so you need to figure out if you have what it takes to get a culture win (check out their stats if you've infiltrated them, see how your Influence compares to theirs), if not then you need to beeline for a tech victory before they gang up on you.

It's hard to play SimGalCiv with an evil empire, either go neutral and make lots of trade deals and alliances or go good and get in on that Torian-Altarian lovefest.

The Torians, although they will try to trick you with their 'ooooo.. we are good!' routine, are SUPER eyyyvl. I call them the Broccoli Heads.. with good reason! I just wish there was a 'hot cheese' tech! Then they would be sorry... >:(

Actually, the damned bark/pipe heads (and I don't meant the Yor) have been the pain in my side.

Go good, and then you have the Yor and Drengin to worry about (and the Drengin aren't gonna be a cakewalk).

I found a way to win this game, it was real cool.

Put my reaserch to 80%
Took all the econ and research bonuses I could get
Sold tech and animatter missles to the monors for long leases, and paid both those races off 100 credits a turn.
Then I took good choices on the pop up questions for the rest of the game.
Soon we were all close and I alied with them. Very cool.

It may also help if you foment trouble for everybody else by bribing them to go to war with each other. Then avoid entanglements (alliances) and they may be busy enough not to bother you as much. ;)

Heck, you could probably move obsolete warships into somebody else's space, then gift them to a third party for kicks. More expensively, build a shell of a starbase and do the same.

I've found that if I change their alignments from Pure to Chaotic, they tend to care less what alignment you are. I'm Pure Evil and they're Chaotic Good? No problem, we'll roast the infidels together.

The other thing I did was to keep them broke by selling them tech and any free rangers I got along the way.
