[BUG] Using ability replaces ability icon with solid red/black square.

I purchased an ability on my rook to increase the attack speed of surrounding units by 25% (I think it was speed not dmg). When I used it, it seemed to work fine but the icon in the toolbar was replaced by a solid red or black square, which didnt look great! The icon did come back though.

I had a similar effect with an item, the Teleporting wand.  Again, during both cool down and stun, the box turned a bright red.

I've experienced this also but only while I had no mana for the ability. I think the sub-icon for non-useable is missing.. (grey'd version of the icon)

Yep, exactly. They probably don't want to make the alternate forms for an art asset they're almost sure they won't use, and it makes a lot of sense to me.
