Sound locations are messed up in 5.1.

I've got an X-Fi audio card with 5.1 speakers.  The sound in beta 1 is pretty much all in the rear channels (when everything is in front of the camera)... when I started swinging the camera around the map I sometimes got sound effects in the fronts, but I couldn't really tell where anything was supposed to be coming from.

I've dropped to 2.0 so it doesn't feel so weird :)

I'm not sure if the game will support surround--may just be stereo.

HA!  Funny thing is, I was looking around for a sound thread so that i could say how pleased I am with it.  My sound is through the onboard 5.1 Gigabyte hardware, and it sounds really good.  Although I will admit that I haven't played enough (or paid enough attention) to notice if all the sounds were coming from the right direction or not, but they seemed to.

Honestly, sound was one of the biggest things I was concerned about when I saw that this was comming from GPG.  I loved the SupCom game and it's expansion, but the sound and how it interacted with my system was a mess.  All gunfire and such came out of the back right, dialogue from my woofer, etc.  When I fired Demigod up...weeeeeeeee!  Sound all around me!

So, I guess that my point is:  You're on the right track so far, and that's awesome.

Well I am guessing Demigod uses the exact sound engine as SupCom.

SupCom has no surrond sound support. Through my X-Fi I would have majority of sound coming from rear speakers.

This is actually quite annoying since it's not easy to turn off surrond sound without going to control panel.
