Feedback: Minimap is needed - Heres why

I love the zoom feature but we still need a minimap...

1) Without a minimap we have NO idea where our teammates are in the map, this would make any kind of coordination incredibly hard in larger maps.

2) Without a minimap, I am forced to stay zoomed out much more than I want, just so I can see enough of an "area" around me to see enemies approaching from all angles (although they do tend to always come from the direction of the creeps in this map...sometimes they come from the side).

3) Without a minimap, I have terrible map awareness. I can't see when creeps are pushing another lane against my tower, etc. I have to constantly zoom all out and zoom back in to see whats happening in the map. Extremely annoying.

as long as it can be added/removed. I like not having a giant box blocking my view.

ooh, how about a minimizable mini-map?

Well, currently unlike supcom, the micromanagement takes a lot in this game.

Which means sometimes we don't have luxuary to zoom out and in during the battle.

Supcom and Demigod is completely different game.... and I think the game style justifies minimap.

Agreed. In RTSs, especially ones with the scale of SupCom, you can often just tell your army to attack and then zoom out, sit back, and watch the battle (obviously I'm exaggerating a little bit here, but you get the idea). In Demigod, you need to continually manage your character, activating abilities and items, and pulling him back if his health gets too low, etc.

I'm all for a strategic zoom, but a minimap should definitely be an option (even SupCom had a minimap).

this i agree, the option for a mini-map would be good, i mean it cant be too hard to make it toggle-able would it:D?

a minimap can always be modded out, but not modded in, the same goes for Strat. Zoom. so give us both and let us use them under our own devices.

+1 Minimap and +1 strategic zoom icons

OMG! how could i have forgotten Strat. Icons.

seriously, if DG had some sick looking ones it'd go over a whole lot easier on those not familiar to it.

nah strat icons are not needed for Demigod, they aren't very beautiful and you can see the units without it anyways as they are bigger than in supcom.

I Disagree! Sometimes I can't tell what team a specific demigod is on. Having a strat icon with a specific team color would help me a great deal. Also, for Regulas it would help me differentiate him from the creeps. Both those things would really help me.

I totally agree that it sometimes is hard to recognize regulus or other Demigods and which team they belong to, however I think there should be a better way than strat icons to solve that problem. I am no gfx expert but I am sure you can do it without strat icons.

Well I definitely wouldn't want the strat icons to be there all the time, if that's what you thought I meant. I was thinking they would only show up if you zoomed out with the strat zoom. but you are right, there should be something to differentiate them at all times as well.

in SupCom, strat. icons appear at a reasonably zoomed out level (basically when it's needed) not all the time (though there is an option to always have them on if you're so inclined).

possibly add a more discretely coloured shader to creeps at far zoom levels? UT3 done this quite well for both enemies and their vehicles.

Hang on, does Demigod still have the thing from Supcom where you can have two views, so you zoom one all the way out and use that as a minimap? (I forget which key does it, sorry.)

I can't say much other than: we're looking into it.  That doesn't mean it's guaranteed.
