Demigod Sizes

I'm not sure if this has been addressed, but I can't find a thread about it

I was wondering if you guys were going to rescale some of the sizes. In the trailer, the rook is HUGE compared to the units. Here, while he is still impressive, it wouldn't hurt to make him slightly larger (say, 10%). The other two heroes I can understand, but it's good to have some differentiation in Hero sizes.

I agree, I'd actually go for shrinking everybody but the rook and letting you zoom in farther (IE making the maps bigger and the rook bigger.) That would be cool.

Yeah. I think the beta map is intended to be more "close quarters melee fast-paced combat"-like, as we've seen in the trailer. It'll be interesting to see how the game scales to different map sizes.

I love the idea of a more heroic scale where the rook's a lumbering giant. That would be excellent.

i was thinking the same thing. after all, from what i hear the rook was a king who turned into a living castle to house and save his people; assuming people are alittle shorter than minataurs, it must have been a puny kingdom. id like to the the rook to be GIGANTIC and the other demigods to be larger than life (they are demigods after all).

I think it is necessary for gameplay reasons to make the heroes a little bigger than the basic minotaurs (maybe make them grow as they ain levels).  Certainly some, like the Rook, could be far bigger (which would make them a lot easier to target).  The main thing is, the demigods should be easy to tell apart from the creeps.  Size is maybe the number one way to do that, considering the many different varieties of creeps (humanoid, long with tails, winged, even giants), though maybe they should have an aura or something to distinguish them.  That would even allow for a demigod that isn't easy to distinguish having that listed as an advantage (similar to the Rook's size being listed as a weakness).

For gameplay and artistic reasons, I'd love to see something along the lines of the scale used in Egyptian dramatic art, where all the heroes and gods are bigger because they're more important, dammit! Let all the demis be bigger than minotaurs.

I too agree that the Rook should be bigger... playing as it makes wonder how in the world people can fit in those towers of his comfortably.

Ahm, i wouldnt like a even bigger rook. He already clutters your screen pretty good + Torch/Regulus can hide behind him so good, that you have to change the camera-angle to attack them. Yes, its a nice tactic to use him as a meatshield - but it works actually well already.

I dont want EVERY Demigod to be huge.. I'd like to see QoT or Regulus rather short. Specially for Regulus since he's like a commando, so he can hide between the creeps and behind most heros.. that would be cool. And a lovley little.. thorny fae shouldn't be 5m tall imo^^

Just keep them as they are relativ to each other, and make everything 10-20% bigger. Its just not epic right now.. i'll get more of a beat-em-up-clusterf*ck-feeling. Even a fully skilled regulus seems to have a utterly low range for teh big mighty sniper.

So long, Aspartem :snowman:

I'm a little torn between making Demigods more obvious through color-coded auras/size, or keeping them the way they are. As you said, Aspartem, Regulus works nicely because he can hide within the mob and snipe and folks. If they ever do make him more obvious I'm hoping that they give him a good stealth ability. No, he does not have to be invisible and move around, but maybe if he can be invisible if he stands in one position. It all depends on whether or not they buff his defenses.

I'd honestly like a fully targetable icon above all demigods with their current health and mana and a team color theme. That would let the scale be considerably more dramatic while still keeping gameplay intact and solving most targeting woes. I'm not sure what to do with regulus, because hiding in the mob not only makes it possible to not be seen, but makes it very hard to target him just because it's hard to click him and that's more nuisance than interesting gameplay. However, I do like the idea of being able to hide in a crowd. It begs the question of what to do, because you're going to forfeit an interesting gameplay element or good control, and they can't really coexist easily.

one of rooks cons is 'hes large' you could see and click on him easily. maybe that extra second it takes to identify and click on regulus is considered one of his 'pros'
